Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

estMOI: estimating multiplicity of infection using parasite deep sequencing data. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Individuals living in endemic areas generally harbour multiple parasite strains. Multiplicity of infection (MOI) can be an indicator of immune status and transmission intensity.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Another Set of Sequences, Sub-Sequences, and Sequences of Sequences

open access: yes, 2000
In this paper 101 new integer sequences, sub-sequences, and sequences of sequences, together with related unsolved problems and conjectures, are presented. Also, definitions, examples, solved or open questions, and references for each sequence are given.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Operating strategies for variable-flow sequencing batch reactors. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Sequencing batch reactors (SBRs) are variable-volume, non-steady-state, suspended-growth biological wastewater treatment reactors. The treatment process is characterised by a repeated treatment cycle consisting of a series of sequential process phases ...

$A$-sequences, $Z$-sequence, and $B$-sequences of Riordan Matrices

open access: yesDiscret. Math., 2019
We defined two type $B$-sequences of Riordan arrays and present the $A$-sequence characterization and $Z$-sequence characterization of the Riordan matrices with two type $B$-sequences. The subgroups characterized by $A$-sequences and $Z$-sequences are studied.

Beatty sequences and Langford sequences

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics, 1993
A disjoint covering system (DCS) of Beatty sequences is the collection of Beatty sequences \((\alpha_ i,\beta_ i)=\{\lfloor n_ i+ n_ i\rfloor: n\in{\mathbb{Z}}^ +\}\) with \(\alpha_ i>0\), \(\beta_ i\) real numbers, which partition \(\mathbb{Z}^ +\).
