Serum Amyloid A Binding to CLA-1 (CD36 and LIMPII Analogous-1) Mediates Serum Amyloid A Protein-induced Activation of ERK1/2 and p38 Mitogen-activated Protein Kinases [PDF]
Serum amyloid A protein (SAA) is an acute-phase reactant, known to mediate pro-inflammatory cellular responses. This study reports that CLA-1 (CD36 and LIMPII Analogous-1; human orthologue of the Scavenger Receptor Class B Type I (SR-BI)) mediates SAA ...

Serum Amyloid A Protein Concentration in Blood is Influenced by Genetic Differences in the Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus). [PDF]
Systemic amyloid A (AA) amyloidosis is a major cause of morbidity and mortality among captive cheetahs. The self-aggregating AA protein responsible for this disease is a byproduct of serum amyloid A (SAA) protein degradation. Transcriptional induction of

Serum Amyloid A Protein Binds to Outer Membrane Protein A of Gram-negative Bacteria [PDF]
Serum amyloid A (SAA) is the major acute phase protein in man and most mammals. We observed SAA binding to a surprisingly large number of Gram-negative bacteria, including Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhimurium, Shigella flexneri, Klebsiella pneumoniae,

Protein Chip Array Profiling Analysis in Patients with Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Identified Serum Amyloid A Protein as a Biomarker Potentially Useful in Monitoring the Extent of Pneumonia [PDF]
Background: A new strain of coronavirus (CoV) has caused an outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), with 8098 individuals being infected and 774 deaths worldwide.

Serum amyloid A1 (
Proteins of the serum amyloid A (SAA) family have been remarkably conserved in evolution. Their biologic function(s) are not fully defined but they are likely to be a part of primordial host defense. We have detected a ∼ 12‐kDa protein reacting with antibodies against serum amyloid A (SAA) in human colostrum by western blotting.

Genetic Effects on Serum Concentrations of Serum Amyloid A Protein [PDF]
MacGregor et al. (1) reported a twin-study of the genetic contribution to baseline serum concentrations of two acute-phase proteins, C-reactive protein and serum amyloid A protein (SAA). In their discussion, they stated that no studies had been reported of associations between particular isoforms and different baseline values of SAA.

Expression of Recombinant Feline Serum Amyloid A(SAA) Protein.
Feline serum amyloid A (SAA) cDNA clone was isolated from a hepatic mRNA of a mixed-breed cat. The feline SAA cDNA clone contains 333 nucleotides and deduced amino acid sequence shows 87.4%, 73.9%, and 65.8% homology with dog, human and mouse SAA respectively.
