ABSTRACT Basophils, the least abundant leukocytes, are increasingly recognised as potent immunomodulators. Upon activation, they rapidly release preformed granule‐associated mediators including histamine and lipid mediators such as LTC4, while cytokine production occurs over a longer timescale, contributing to downstream immune responses.

Functional Inhibitory Siglec-6 Is Upregulated in Human Colorectal Cancer-Associated Mast Cells
Mast cells (MC) accumulate in colorectal cancer (CRC) and the relationship between MC density and cancer progression has been well recognized. MC can be either pro-tumor or anti-tumor players, depending on the local factors present in the tumor ...

Macrophage markers should be interpreted as context‐dependent biological readouts rather than deterministic cell identifiers. This Review proposes a multidimensional framework integrating lineage, identity, and functional state across complementary experimental modalities to enable a more accurate interpretation of macrophage heterogeneity.

Pathophysiology and emerging treatments for dermographic, cholinergic and cold urticaria
This review illustrates key proposed mast cell‐mediated activation pathways in dermographic, cholinergic and cold urticaria, highlighting IgE‐dependent and ‐independent mechanisms. These pathways are increasingly targeted by emerging drugs, aiming to interrupt mast cell activation and mediator release, offering more precise, mechanism‐based treatment ...

Sialic acid-binding immunoglobulin-like lectin 15 (Siglec-15) is considered a novel anti-tumor target comparable to programmed cell death 1 ligand 1(PD-L1). However, little is known about Siglec-15.

Immune proteomic associations with indices of cortical development in 5‐year‐old children
Typically developing 5‐year‐old children (n = 101–126) from the FinnBrain Birth Cohort Study, Finland, underwent both targeted serum immune proteomics and magnetic resonance brain imaging. Multiple inflammatory markers, from one cluster of co‐expressed immune proteins, were negatively associated with indices of cortical development, including thickness,

Genetic Susceptibility to Periodontitis
Aim: The aim of this narrative review was to identify genes carrying risk alleles associated with an increased risk of periodontitis and to place them in a biological context. Methods: The literature was reviewed based on predefined criteria. Results: The identified genes largely fall into functions linking immune response with tissue repair. The genes

Intravenous immunoglobulin preparations contain anti-Siglec-8 autoantibodies
BACKGROUND: Human intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) preparations are used for the treatment of autoimmune and allergic diseases. Natural autoantibodies are believed to contribute to IVIg-mediated anti-inflammatory effects.

Saliva Liquid Biopsy for Detection of Oral and Systemic Diseases
This Review summarizes and discusses the biological foundations and major classes of salivary biomarkers, outlines collection methods and analytical protocols for saliva‐based liquid biopsy, and technological convergences driven by multi‐omics approaches, artificial intelligence, and point‐of‐care devices in the application of oral and systemic ...
