Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Signal Amplification of Self-Potential Biosensor for Glucose Monitoring

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2015
A self-powered electrochemical sensor (SPS) has been designed for sensitive detection of glucose based on the glucose oxidase (GOD)/polyvinyl ferrocene (PVF)/ poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PDDA -reduced graphene oxide (RGO)/glassy carbon ...

Manipulating Synchronous Optical Signals with a Double $\Lambda $ Atomic Ensemble

open access: yes, 2004
We analyze a double $\Lambda $ atomic configuration interacting with two signal beams and two control beams. Because of the quantum interference between the two $\Lambda $ channels, the four fields are phase-matched in electromagnetically induced ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Polarization dependent Brillouin gain in randomly birefringent fibers

open access: yes, 2009
An extensive study of the alignment between the pump, the signal and the polarization dependent gain (PDG) vectors in stimulated Brillouin amplification in randomly birefringent fibers is realized by numerically integrating the equations governing the ...

CRISPR/Cas13a Signal Amplification Linked Immunosorbent Assay for Femtomolar Protein Detection.

open access: yesAnalytical Chemistry, 2019
The enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) is a basic technique used in analytical and clinical investigations. However, conventional ELISA is still not sensitive enough to detect ultra-low concentrations of biomarkers for the early diagnosis of ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.
