Use of “Corn Picker for Silage” to Evaluate Corn Silage Hybrids 2009 Trials Update

open access: yes, 2011
“Corn Picker for Corn Silage” is an Excel spreadsheet program that more accurately determines a superior corn silage hybrid based on all relevant costs and returns that affect corn silage and dairy nutrition. It can be localized to specific farm situations or one can use a standard set of costs such as “Estimated Costs of Crop Production in Iowa- 2010”

Nutritional Value of Blighted Corn as Silage or as Grain

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 1972
Abstract Digestibility trials with 300 to 350kg steers indicated no significant difference between blighted and normal corn silage or grain as a feedstuff for growing beef steers. Extra care in harvesting and processing is recommended to prevent secondary problems with blighted feedstuffs.

Agglomeration evolution and mechanism of feed grain production in China: Based on dynamic spatial Durbin model

open access: yesSiliao yanjiu
To observe the dynamic changes in the silage corn production, the study was based on panel data from 30 provinces in China from 2001 to 2021, and used a center of gravity model to analyze the changes in the silage corn production agglomeration areas.

Corn Silage, Managing the Manageable

open access: yesTehnologìâ virobnictva ì pererobki produktìv tvarinnictva
This paper reviews key factors in corn silage production that affect quality, yield, starch content, and fiber digestibility‒elements that directly influence feed costs and animal performance. Notably, improved management practices have the potential to enhance profits by as much as $30 per ton of silage. In the United States, over six million acres of
