Inactivation of Polyomavirus SV40 as Surrogate for Human Papillomaviruses by Chemical Disinfectants

open access: yesViruses, 2021
Human papillomaviruses (HPV) are non-enveloped DNA viruses infecting cutaneous and mucosal squamous epithelia. Sexually transmitted HPV-types that are carcinogenic to humans such as HPV16 can induce cervical and other anogenital cancers.

Analysis of the reduced growth factor dependency of simian virus 40-transformed 3T3 cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
We have measured in a defined serum-free medium the platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) and insulin requirements of normal Swiss 3T3 cells, simian virus 40-transformed 3T3 cells, and partial revertants of simian virus 40-transformed 3T3 cells.

Conserved presence of G-quadruplex forming sequences in the Long Terminal Repeat Promoter of Lentiviruses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
G-quadruplexes (G4s) are secondary structures of nucleic acids that epigenetically regulate cellular processes. In the human immunodeficiency lentivirus 1 (HIV-1), dynamic G4s are located in the unique viral LTR promoter.

Dose‐dependent pathogenicity and inflammatory imbalance in severely immunodeficient mice infected with mpox virus

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This study establishes an NPG (NOD.Cg‐Prkdcscid Il2rgtm1/Vst) mouse model for severe monkeypox virus infection in immunocompromised hosts, demonstrating dose‐dependent disease severity and revealing that unbalanced pro‐inflammatory cytokine release drives pathogenesis, providing insights for therapeutic interventions. Abstract The global spread of mpox

Simian Virus 40 Infection of Humans [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 2003
Since its discovery, simian virus 40 (SV40) has been one of the most intensely studied animal viruses. The molecular biology of SV40 has led to seminal discoveries in the fields of transcription, DNA replication, and oncogenic transformation ([19][1]).

New Perspectives on Diagnosis and Therapy of Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2018
Malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is a rare, but severe form of cancer, with an incidence that varies significantly within and among different countries around the world.

Mapping the complete glycoproteome of virion-derived HIV-1 gp120 provides insights into broadly neutralizing antibody binding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The surface envelope glycoprotein (SU) of Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1), gp120SU plays an essential role in virus binding to target CD4+ T-cells and is a major vaccine target.

NUAK2 Inhibition Enhances Macromolecular Drug Delivery in a 3D Fibrotic Model of the Pancreatic Tumor Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Using a 3D cell culture model of the fibrotic barrier in pancreatic cancer, this work shows that inhibiting NUAK2 kinase in pancreatic stellate cells enhances macromolecular drug delivery. Mechanistically, NUAK2 inhibition disrupted actin stress fiber assembly to downregulate collagen I expression, thus enhancing macromolecular permeability.

Transcription and Replication Result in Distinct Epigenetic Marks Following Repression of Early Gene Expression

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2013
Simian Virus 40 (SV40) early transcription is repressed when the product of early transcription, T-antigen, binds to its cognate regulatory sequence, Site I, in the promoter of the SV40 minichromosome.

Development of novel adenoviral vectors to overcome challenges observed with HAdV-5 based constructs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Recombinant vectors based on human adenovirus serotype 5 (HAdV-5) have been extensively studied in pre-clinical models and clinical trials over the last two decades.
