Protective effects of extracellular vesicle‐like nanoparticles derived from Cannabis sativa adventitious roots against UVB‐induced damage in human keratinocytes

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
Cannabis sativa root‐derived extracellular vesicle‐like nanoparticles (CA‐NPs) were isolated from adventitious root cultures and subjected to physicochemical characterization. Upon UVB exposure, keratinocytes exhibited increased ROS generation, apoptosis and MAPK activation, leading to oxidative stress and skin damage.

Role of the tomato MARS1/ROUGH gene encoding a LYSINE‐SPECIFIC HISTONE DEMETHYLASE 1 in adventitious root and fruit skin formation

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
The tomato mars1/rough mutant displays enhanced root regeneration and rough fruits due to ectopic cell proliferation. The causal gene encodes a lysine‐specific histone demethylase that normally maintains gene silencing. Its loss alters histone methylation, upregulating several genes, including those B‐type cyclins involved in tissue‐specific cellular ...

Demonstration of direct involvement of cytokines in graft-versus-host reactions using an in vitro human skin explant model

open access: yes
A human skin explant model was used to investigate the role of cytokines in graft-versus-host reactions (GVHR). Responder cells from HLA mismatched mixed lymphocyte cultures (MLC) produced GVHR (Grades I-III) in skin explant assays.

Implant stability quotient and osteogenic process in dental implant sites prepared using piezoelectric technique: A study in minipigs

open access: yesJournal of Prosthodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Few studies have explored the bone response in dental implant sites prepared using a piezoelectric device, indicating moderate effectiveness in enhancing secondary stability and osteogenesis. This study seeks to expand our understanding of the changes in biological, clinical, and radiographic parameters, during the initial phases of ...

Understanding the toxicological effects of TiO2 nanoparticles extracted from sunscreens on human keratinocytes and skin explants

open access: yes
Background Inorganic ultraviolet filters such as titanium dioxide nanoparticles are frequently used in sunscreens. Numerous toxicological studies in vitro and in vivo have been conducted using pristine standard reference nanomaterials of these inorganic ...

First Experience With Extravascular Implantable Cardioverter‐Defibrillator Under Deep Sedation

open access: yesPacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background The Extravascular Implantable Cardioverter‐Defibrillator (EV‐ICD) utilizes a substernal lead to provide defibrillation and anti‐tachycardia pacing (ATP) while avoiding transvenous complications. General anesthesia (GA) was applied for implantation procedures in the EV‐ICD pivotal trial and is currently recommended by the ...

Clinical Efficacy of Endocannabinoid-Mimetic Fatty Acid Amide as a Skin-Soothing Ingredient

open access: yesCosmetics
Despite the potential benefits of cannabidiol as a skin-soothing ingredient, its regulatory status hampers its general use in cosmetic products in many countries. To develop an alternative to cannabidiol, fatty acid amide molecules mimicking the chemical

Reviewing the benefits and clinical outcomes of oral fibroblasts over mesenchymal stem cells for repairing periodontal defects during or after orthodontic tooth movement

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Orthodontic therapy applies forces to teeth, causing an inflammatory reaction in the periodontal ligament. This is repaired by remodeling of the periodontium, allowing tooth displacement. Although orthodontic therapy is mostly initiated during childhood and adolescence, the number of adults seeking this treatment is increasing as our society's
