3D skin models in domestic animals
The skin is a passive and active barrier which protects the body from the environment. Its health is essential for the accomplishment of this role. Since several decades, the skin has aroused a strong interest in various fields (for e.g.

Mesoscopic Monitoring of Human Skin Explants Viscoelastic Properties
The investigation of the mechanical properties of skin is of great interest for monitoring physiological and pathological changes in the cutaneous barrier function for dermatological and cosmetic issues. Skin constitutes a complex tissue because of its multi-layered organisation.

Enhanced Isolation of Fibroblasts from Human Skin Explants
Here we describe a method for growing fibroblasts from human skin explants that increases the number of cells obtained by up to two orders of magnitude, thus increasing the amount of material available for research and diagnostic purposes and potentially for cell-based therapies.

A preliminary report on the contact-independent antagonism of Pseudogymnoascus destructans by Rhodococcus rhodochrous strain DAP96253. [PDF]
BackgroundThe recently-identified causative agent of White-Nose Syndrome (WNS), Pseudogymnoascus destructans, has been responsible for the mortality of an estimated 5.5 million North American bats since its emergence in 2006.

Macrophage‐derived MLKL in alcohol‐associated liver disease: Regulation of phagocytosis
EtOH causes leaky gut allowing bacteria and PAMPs into the liver, resulting in hepatic inflammation and injury. We demonstrate that LPS induces STAT1‐mediated expression and phosphorylation of MLKL in macrophages and identify a novel function that myeloid MLKL translocates to phagosomes and lysosomes and regulates phagocytosis, which contributes to the

Persistent organic pollutant burden, experimental POP exposure and tissue properties affect metabolic profiles of blubber from grey seal pups [PDF]
Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are toxic, ubiquitous, resist breakdown, bioaccumulate in living tissue and biomagnify in food webs. POPs can also alter energy balance in humans and wildlife.

CHIN117 is a dual cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1 (CYSLTR1) antagonist and G‐protein‐coupled bile acid receptor 1 (GPBAR1) agonist. In the liver, GPBAR1 and CYSLTR1 are coexpressed by liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSECs), HSCs, circulating monocytes/macrophages, and liver resident macrophages (Kupffer cells).
