Fusobacterium nucleatum Promotes the Growth and Metastasis of Colorectal Cancer by Activating E‐Cadherin/Krüppel‐Like Factor 4/Integrin α5 Signaling in a Calcium‐Dependent Manner

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 6, Issue 3, March 2025.
Our findings reveal that Fusobacterium nucleatum increases intracellular Ca2+ concentration, which promotes interaction between E‐cadherin and KLF4, resulting in KLF4 phosphorylation and translocation in the nucleus. The phosphorylated KLF4 induces ITGA5 transcription and activated FAK/PI3K/Akt1 signaling, finally promoting the growth, invasion, and ...

Effects of Maternal Diabetes and Diet on Gene Expression in the Murine Placenta [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Adverse exposures during pregnancy have been shown to contribute to susceptibility for chronic diseases in offspring. Maternal diabetes during pregnancy is associated with higher risk of pregnancy complications, structural birth defects, and ...

Histopathological study of the localization/distribution of Fusobacterium nucleatum in esophageal cancer

open access: yesPathology International, Volume 75, Issue 2, Page 82-91, February 2025.
We visualized F. nucleatum using FISH and identified different distribution patterns of F. nucleatum, highlighting the spot density of its presence in tumor tissues. F. nucleatum was identified more frequently in esophageal cancer tissues than in the normal epithelium. As tumor progression advanced, the area occupied by F.

Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell‐Derived Parathyroid Organoids Resemble Parathyroid Morphology and Function

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 11, Issue 43, November 20, 2024.
iPSC‐derived parathyroid organoids express PTH‐related markers at the protein and gene levels. The transplantation of parathyroid organoids into parathyroidectomized rats shows their functional activity and tissue integration capability. iPSC‐derived parathyroid organoids successfully release PTH both in vitro and in vivo.

Alterations in the expression of pituitary solute carrier (SLCs) families, ubiquitin-protease system, and ATP pump genes of high and low weight broilers using a microarray database analysis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Epigenetics
Selecting for juvenile body weight over the long term from a shared original population resulted in the creation of two distinct chicken lines: the low-weight selected line (LWS) and the high-weight selected line (HWS).

Single‐cell RNA‐seq in diabetic foot ulcer wound healing

open access: yesWound Repair and Regeneration, Volume 32, Issue 6, Page 880-889, November/December 2024.
Abstract Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is a chronic and serious complication of diabetes mellitus. It is mainly caused by hyperglycaemia, diabetic peripheral vasculopathy and diabetic peripheral neuropathy. These conditions result in ulceration of foot tissues and chronic wounds.

Evaluation of a Chemiluminescent Enzyme Immunoassay for the Detection of Prostaglandin E‐Major Urinary Metabolite (PGE‐MUM)

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, Volume 38, Issue 19-20, October 2024.
We developed a chemiluminescent enzyme immunoassay (CLEIA), which can detect prostaglandin E‐major urinary metabolite (PGE‐MUM) with automated procedure in ~30 min. Here, we evaluated its analytical performance. This assay can precisely detect PGE‐MUM with good reproducibility and showed a good correlation with preceding radioimmunoassay (RIA ...

Fusobacterium nucleatum, immune responses, and metastatic organ diversity in colorectal cancer liver metastasis

open access: yesCancer Science, Volume 115, Issue 10, Page 3248-3255, October 2024.
In this retrospective cohort study of 218 patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) liver metastasis, Fusobacterium nucleatum was detected in liver metastasis tissues in 42% of cases and was associated with increased serum C‐reactive protein levels, reduced numbers of CD8+ cells and FOXP3+ cells in tumor tissues, and an increased number of metastatic ...
