Sliding Modes

open access: yes, 2012
The increased efficiency and quality constraints imposed on electrical energy systems have inspired a renewed research interest in the study of formal approaches to the analysis and control of power electronics converters. Switched systems represent a useful framework for modeling these converters and the peculiarities of their operating conditions and

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Tactile Sliding Behavior of R2R Mass-Produced PLLA Nanosheet towards Biomedical Device in Skin Applications

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2018
In this research, sliding friction was measured between the fingertip and nanosheet on a silicon substrate under two conditions: dry and wet. By using a force transducer, the tactile friction force and applied load were measured.

Skip-Sliding Window Codes

open access: yes, 2018
Constrained coding is used widely in digital communication and storage systems. In this paper, we study a generalized sliding window constraint called the skip-sliding window.

Tumor and germline testing with next generation sequencing in epithelial ovarian cancer: a prospective paired comparison using an 18‐gene panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Genetic testing in epithelial ovarian cancer includes both germline and tumor‐testing. This approach often duplicates resources. The current prospective study assessed the feasibility of tumor‐first multigene testing by comparing tumor tissue with germline testing of peripheral blood using an 18‐gene NGS panel in 106 patients.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

SELECTION OF METHOD FOR REGULATION OF TRACTOR PROPULSION ASYNCHRONOUS ELECTRIC MOTOR AND CONSTRUCTION OF MECHANICAL CHARACTERISTICS

open access: yesНаука и техника, 2015
Nowadays the work is in progress to develop wheeled and caterpillar tractors with electromechanical transmission. Range of changes in transmission gear ratio while using propulsion electric motor depends on mechanical characteristics of a tractor ...

“WHAT IS A WORK?”: BETWEEN STABILITY AND SLIDING IN THE INTERNET AGE

open access: yesTexto Livre: Linguagem e Tecnologia, 2016
This paper, based on the Discourse Analysis perspective articulated by Pêcheux, discusses the concept of work by analyzing the sense effects produced within the official discourse and in the debate discourse – which are materialized in the Copyright Laws

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

Nanoscale Friction: Phonon Contributions for Single and Multiple Contacts

open access: yesFrontiers in Mechanical Engineering, 2019
A generic model has been developed to simulate the effect of phonon interactions during nanoscale sliding with an incommensurate interface. A rigid slider or array of sliders is translated across a 3D elastic slab whose mass elements are harmonically ...
