Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Delay compensation for nonlinear teleoperators using predictor observers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper presents a delay compensation technique for nonlinear teleoperators by developing a predictor type sliding mode observer (SMO) that estimates future states of the slave operator. Predicted states are then used in control formulation.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

A Robust Observer-Based Control Strategy for n-DOF Uncertain Robot Manipulators with Fixed-Time Stability

open access: yesSensors, 2021
In this paper, a robust observer-based control strategy for n-DOF uncertain robot manipulators with fixed-time stability was developed. The novel fixed-time nonsingular sliding mode surface enables control errors to converge to the equilibrium point ...

Robust position control of ultrasonic motor using VSS observer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Intrinsic properties of ultrasonic motor (high torque for low speed, high static torque, compact in size, etc.) offer great advantages for industrial applications. However, when load torque is applied, dead-zone occurs in control input.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Time-Delay Luenberger Observer Design for Sliding Mode Control of Nonlinear Markovian Jump Systems via Event-Triggered Mechanism

open access: yesMachines, 2021
This paper is focused on the stabilization of Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy model-based Markovian jump systems with the aid of a delayed state observer. Due to network-induced constraints in the communication channel, a delay partition method combined with an ...

A High-Order Sliding Mode Observer for Sensorless Control ofDFIG-Based Wind Turbines

open access: yes, 2012
International audienceThis paper deals with the sensorless control of a doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) based wind turbine. The sensorless control scheme is based on a high-order sliding mode (HOSM) observer to estimate the DFIG rotational speed ...

Observer-based integral sliding mode control for sensorless PMSM drives using FPGA [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This paper presents the design and evaluation of an observer-based integral sliding mode controller for sensorless Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) drive based on the Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technology. For enhancement of robustness,

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
