AtNHX5 and AtNHX6 Are Required for the Subcellular Localization of the SNARE Complex That Mediates the Trafficking of Seed Storage Proteins in Arabidopsis. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
The SNARE complex composed of VAMP727, SYP22, VTI11 and SYP51 is critical for protein trafficking and PSV biogenesis in Arabidopsis. This SNARE complex directs the fusion between the prevacuolar compartment (PVC) and the vacuole, and thus mediates ...

The decoy SNARE Tomosyn sets tonic versus phasic release properties and is required for homeostatic synaptic plasticity

open access: yeseLife, 2021
Synaptic vesicle (SV) release probability (Pr) is a key presynaptic determinant of synaptic strength established by cell-intrinsic properties and further refined by plasticity.

PASSIVE TORQUE SIMULATION OF SMALL ANGULAR CONTACT BEARING AT HIGH SPEED [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Description of common ball bearing torque models was presented and adopted to the complex thermo-mechanical model of the high speed spindle. Ball bearing passive torque was measured on the own high-speed spindle design.

Phosphoinositides and SNARE chaperones synergistically assemble and remodel SNARE complexes for membrane fusion [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2009
Yeast vacuole fusion requires 4 SNAREs, 2 SNARE chaperone systems (Sec17p/Sec18p/ATP and the HOPS complex), and 2 phosphoinositides, phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate [PI(3)P] and phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate [PI(4,5)P 2 ].

Munc18-1 catalyzes neuronal SNARE assembly by templating SNARE association

open access: yeseLife, 2018
Sec1/Munc18-family (SM) proteins are required for SNARE-mediated membrane fusion, but their mechanism(s) of action remain controversial. Using single-molecule force spectroscopy, we found that the SM protein Munc18-1 catalyzes step-wise zippering of ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Involvement of complexin 2 in docking, locking and unlocking of different SNARE complexes during sperm capacitation and induced acrosomal exocytosis.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Acrosomal exocytosis (AE) is an intracellular multipoint fusion reaction of the sperm plasma membrane (PM) with the outer acrosomal membrane (OAM). This unique exocytotic event enables the penetration of the sperm through the zona pellucida of the oocyte.

Doc2b enrichment enhances glucose homeostasis in mice via potentiation of insulin secretion and peripheral insulin sensitivity. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
AIMS/HYPOTHESIS: Insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells and insulin-stimulated glucose uptake into skeletal muscle are processes regulated by similar isoforms of the soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor-attachment protein receptor (SNARE ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
