Function and proteolytic generation of the soluble interleukin-6 receptor in health and disease.
The pleiotropic cytokine interleukin-6 (IL-6) is involved in numerous physiological and pathophysiological functions that include development, immune cell differentiation, inflammation and cancer.

Background Patients infected by SARS-CoV-2 can develop interstitial pneumonia, requiring hospitalisation or mechanical ventilation. Increased levels of inflammatory biomarkers are associated with development of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).

BODY IRON STATUS INDICATORS AND INFLAMMATION INDICATORS DURING INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASE THERAPY IN CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTES [PDF]
BACKGROUND: The treatment of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) consists of the induction and maintenance remission of the disease. Iron status indicators would be useful for the diagnosis of iron deficiency anemia, whereas the inflammation ...

Interleukin (IL-) 6 is a key factor in the inflammatory processes of rheumatoid arthritis. Several biologic agents target the IL-6 signaling pathway, including sarilumab, a monoclonal antibody that blocks the IL-6 receptor and inhibits IL-6-mediated cis-

A case of autoimmune enteropathy with CTLA4 haploinsufficiency [PDF]
Autoimmune enteropathy (AIE) is a rare disease, characterized by intractable diarrhea, villous atrophy of the small intestine, and the presence of circulating anti-enterocyte autoantibodies. Immune dysregulation, polyendocrinopathy, enteropathy, X-linked

A Potential Role of IL-6/IL-6R in the Development and Management of Colon Cancer
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most frequent cancer worldwide and the second greatest cause of cancer deaths. About 75% of all CRCs are sporadic cancers and arise following somatic mutations, while about 10% are hereditary cancers caused by ...

Role of Soluble Interleukin-6 Receptor With Interleukin-6 in Human Hematopoiesis
A complex of soluble interleukin-6 receptor (sIL-6R) and interleukin-6 has been shown to play some roles in human hematopoiesis. It activates gp130 signal to stimulate human erythroid, megakaryocytic and primitive hematopoietic progenitor cells, which express gp130 but not IL-6R, in the presence of c-Kit signal mediated by stem cell factor (SCF).

Modification of Soluble Immunological Parameters during Treatment with Interleukin-2
In the present study we tested numerous soluble immunological parameters (soluble Interleukin 2 receptor, Beta 2 microglobulin, Neopterin, soluble CD8 antigen, gamma Interferon and alpha Tumor Necrosis Factor) in sera obtained from 18 advanced cancer ...

Role of interleukin-15 and interleukin-18 in the secretion of sIL-6R and sgp130 by human neutrophils
Background: Available data indicate that neutrophils (PMN) produce a wide range of cytokines with the potential to modulate immune response. Recent investigation have shown that interleukin (IL)-15 and IL-18 potentiated several functions of normal ...
