TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Genetic variation for bulb size, soluble solids content and pungency in the Spanish sweet onion variety Fuentes de Ebro. Response to selection for low pungency [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The cultivar ‘Fuentes de Ebro’ is a long-day onion grown in the northeast of Spain, which is characterized by its succulence and low pungency. However, to match the market demand the size, pungency, and storability need to be improved.

PREDICTION OF THE SOLUBLE SOLIDS CONTENT IN THREE FRUIT SPECIES USING NIRS APPROACH [PDF]

open access: yesAnais do XX Congresso Brasileiro de Engenharia Química, 2015
The fruit structure effect (passion fruit, tomato and apricot) was investigated on prediction performance of soluble solids content (SSC) using NIR spectroscopy. Relationships between spectral wavelengths and SSC data were evaluated through the application of chemometric techniques based on partial least squares (PLS).

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

THE EVALUATION OF FRUITS QUALITY IN SOME STRAWBERRY CULTIVARS (FRAGARIA X ANANASSA L. DUCH.) [PDF]

open access: yesFruit Growing Research, 2015
The major factors influencing the strawberries quality are the genotype, culture technology, climatic conditions and harvest time. In Romania consumers like strawberry fruits especially picked in May to June season, in that period having better ...

The Impact of Eight Hybrid Tomato Rootstocks on ‘BHN 589’ Scion Yield, Fruit Quality, and Plant Growth Traits in a Midwest High Tunnel Production System

open access: yesHortScience, 2020
Prior work in a Midwestern United States high tunnel indicated that hybrid and heirloom tomato scions grafted to hybrid rootstock ‘RST-04-106-T’ had a minimal yield increase in the absence of soilborne disease pressure, which underscored the need for ...

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Morpho-agronomic and organoleptic response of five banana cultivars (Musa spp.) under field conditions

open access: yesBiotecnología Vegetal, 2020
In Cuba, banana production is destined for the national market as fresh fruit and plays an essential role in food security. The objective of this work was to evaluate in field conditions the morpho-agronomic and organoleptic characteristics of five ...
