257 -- Localization of the Sonic the Hedgehog (Shh) protein in Zebrafish retinas
Unlike most vertebrates, zebrafish possess the unique ability to regenerate organ tissues and retinas when damaged. Understanding this regenerative process could be the key to assisting in preventing and healing damaged retinal cells in humans. Zebrafish

By assembling cortical‐hypothalamic circuits, we show that cortical input protects hypothalamic neurons from fatty acid‐induced damage, which activates PGC1α to boost mitochondrial function. This reveals a cortico‐hypothalamic axis that defends against metabolic stress.

Divergent axial morphogenesis and early shh expression in vertebrate prospective floor plate
Background The notochord has organizer properties and is required for floor plate induction and dorsoventral patterning of the neural tube. This activity has been attributed to sonic hedgehog (shh) signaling, which originates in the notochord, forms a ...

The Role of Neuropeptide Y in Dental Pulp: Balancing Neurogenic Inflammation and Pain Modulation
ABSTRACT Background Dental pulp is a densely innervated, low‐compliance tissue in which neurogenic inflammation can rapidly escalate into oedema, raised intrapulpal pressure, microvascular compromise, and pain. While Substance P (SP) and Calcitonin gene‐related peptide (CGRP) are well‐established drivers of pulp vasodilation, the Neuroopeptide Y (NPY ...

TCR signal strength is involved in many cell fate decisions in the T-cell lineage. Here, we show that transcriptional events induced by Hedgehog (Hh) signaling reduced TCR signal strength in mice.

Sonic hedgehog promotes autophagy in hippocampal neurons [PDF]
Summary The Sonic hedgehog (Shh) signaling pathway is well known in patterning of the neural tube during embryonic development, but its emerging role in differentiated neurons is less understood.

Abstract Reports of teratogenic embryos in elasmobranchs have been documented in multiple species, with proposed aetiologies including environmental disturbances, genetic mutations, predation, exposure to endocrine‐disrupting compounds and maternal stress.

The Hedgehog (Hh) pathway contributes to prostate cancer growth and progression. The presence of robust Shh expression in both normal prostate and localized cancer challenged us to explain the unique growth promoting effect in cancer.

The molecular mechanisms regulating organ growth and size remain unclear. Sonic hedgehog (SHH) signaling is a major player in the regulation of cerebellar development: SHH is secreted by Purkinje neurons and acts on the proliferation of granule cell ...

Sonic hedgehog (Shh)/Gli modulates the spatial organization of neuroepithelial cell proliferation in the developing chick optic tectum [PDF]
Background: Sonic hedgehog (Shh)/Gli pathway plays an important regulatory role on the neuroepithelial cells (NEc) proliferation in the dorsal regions of the developing vertebrate Central Nervous System. The aim of this paper was to analyze the effect of
