Valorization of CNSL as a Sustainable Solution for PVC Plasticization: A Comprehensive Study of Cardanol–Cardol Mixture

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT For the first time, a mixture of cardanol and cardol esters has been studied as plasticizers for PVC. From our previous work, it has been established that the favorable plasticizing properties of cardol for PVC materials exist. Hence, the utilization of cashew nutshell liquid (CNSL), a naturally occurring mixture of cardanol and cardol, as a ...

Structured Lipids: Synthesis, Genetic Engineering, and Applications

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Lipids are essential to the human body, but some can be harmful. As a result, current research focuses on structured lipids (SLs), which are engineered to have specific fatty acid arrangements. These structural modifications can enhance both nutritional and physical properties.

Modified Oil Soybean Test—North

open access: yes, 2007
The purpose of this test was to evaluate the experimental modified oil soybean lines adapted to northern Iowa. The 2009 Modified Oil Soybean Test included 1% linolenic and low saturates, and for comparison of agronomic traits, commercially grown varieties released by Iowa State University. Oil from 1% linolenic and low saturates soybean varieties grown

A Comparative Study of Diesel Oil and Soybean Oil as Oil-Based Drilling Mud

open access: yes, 2015
Oil-based mud (OBM) was formulated with soybean oil extracted from soybean using the Soxhlet extraction method. The formulated soybean mud properties were compared with diesel oil mud properties. The compared properties were rheological properties, yield

Effect of refining on the fatty acid, sterol and tocopherols compositions of soybean oil from GM seeds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Soybeans are an exceptional source of polyunsaturated fats, high quality proteins and high levels of vitamin E, being part of the human diet mainly as vegetable oil and as source of protein.

Toward Rapid Analysis of Unsaturated Fatty Acid Oxidation in Edible Oils via Square‐Wave Voltammetry

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Square‐wave voltammetry (SWV) was investigated as a potential analytical tool for quantitation of unsaturated fatty acid oxidation in edible oils exposed to high heat. A traditional linear regression calibration curve and a novel single‐point calibration method were used to quantitate linoleic acid in oxidized oil samples.

Alpha-tocopherol in intravenous lipid emulsions imparts hepatic protection in a murine model of hepatosteatosis induced by the enteral administration of a parenteral nutrition solution.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Intestinal failure-associated liver disease (IFALD) is a risk of parenteral nutrition (PN)-dependence. Intravenous soybean oil-based parenteral fat can exacerbate the risk of IFALD while intravenous fish oil can minimize its progression, yet the ...

Physicochemical Stability and Sensory Evaluation of Novel Fish Oil Fortified Plant Milk Beverages

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Omega‐3 fatty acids, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) are imperative for general biological functions and may be involved in the prevention and treatment of various diseases. Despite the benefits, US consumption of fish, and consequently EPA and DHA, is below recommended levels.

Influence of Thermoplastic Polyurethane Content on Interlaminar Adhesion of Hot‐Pressed Aramid Fabrics

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Optimized hot‐pressing conditions (200°C, 10 MPa, 25 min) were identified using a DOE approach. Two TPU layers (29.9 wt%) achieved the best interlaminar adhesion, yielding a 67% increase in T‐peel strength. Dynamic mechanical analysis revealed lower activation energy at optimal composition, indicating improved fiber‐matrix interaction.
