Efferocytosis: Signaling Pathways and New Therapeutic Strategies for Diseases

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 5, May 2026.
1. Efferocytosis coordinates molecular signaling and metabolic reprogramming to resolve inflammation. 2. Efferocytosis dysfunction underlies four conserved pathological hallmarks across diseases. 3. Therapeutic strategies targeting efferocytosis should be context‐dependent: enhance or inhibit based on disease type. ABSTRACT Efferocytosis—the phagocytic

Soluble programmed cell death ligand-1 as a predictive biomarker for severity and poor prognosis in pulmonary tuberculosis

open access: yesAnnals of Medicine
Background We aimed to assess whether soluble programmed death-ligand 1 (sPD-L1) could serve as a new biomarker for PTB.Methods Plasma sPD-L1 levels in the discovery cohort were analyzed through flow cytometry and validated by sandwich ELISA.

PD‐L1‐Binding Antigen Presenters: Redirecting Vaccine‐Induced Antibodies for Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 20, 9 April 2026.
The PBAP‐gE complex anchors gE antigen to PD‐L1 on tumor cells. Vaccine‐induced anti‐gE antibodies simultaneously engage FcγRIIIa on NK cells and tumor‐bound PBAP‐gE, triggering NK cell activation and antibody‐dependent cellular cytotoxicity, thereby selectively eliminating PD‐L1–expressing tumor cells.

Image_1_The interaction between the soluble programmed death ligand-1 (sPD-L1) and PD-1+ regulator B cells mediates immunosuppression in triple-negative breast cancer.jpeg

open access: yes, 2022
Accumulating evidence suggests that regulatory B cells (Bregs) play important roles in inhibiting the immune response in tumors. Programmed death 1 (PD-1) and programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) are important molecules that maintain the balance of the ...

Soluble programmed death ligand 1 as prognostic biomarker in non-small cell lung cancer patients receiving nivolumab, pembrolizumab or atezolizumab therapy

open access: yesScientific Reports
Many studies have focused on the prognostic role of soluble programmed death ligand 1 (sPD-L1) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), but outcomes are ambiguous and further investigations are needed. We addressed the matter by studying sPD-L1 in baseline

Erken Evre Küçük Hücreli Dışı Akciğer Kanseri Hastalarında Serum sPD-1 ve sPD-L1 Düzeylerinin Klinik, Patolojik Özellikler Ve Lenf Nodu Metastazı İle Korelasyonu

open access: yes, 2020
Cancer is an important health issue, with rapidly increasing incidence and mortality worldwide. Significant advances have been achieved in cancer immunotherapy with the discovery of antigens that enable cancer cells to be recognized by the immune system ...

Accumulation of blood-circulating PD-L1-expressing M-MDSCs and monocytes/macrophages in pretreatment ovarian cancer patients is associated with soluble PD-L1

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine, 2020
Background Previous studies have shown clinical relevance of programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) and soluble PD-L1 (sPD-L1) in human cancers. However, still contradictory results exist.

The Homeobox Genes: Classification, Regulation, Biological Functions, and Diseases

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
Overview of the homeobox gene superfamily and its pathophysiological roles. The homeobox superfamily comprises several major classes, including ANTP, PRD, TALE, LIM, POU, and others. Among these, the HOX clusters (A–D) play critical roles in embryonic development specifically in conferring cellular identity, regulating morphogenesis, and guiding axial ...

Human‐Interpretable SEP Event Prediction Using White‐Box Explainable AI

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Solar energetic particle (SEP) events pose radiation risks to astronauts and space systems, making their prediction essential. Although various prediction models have been developed, most machine learning (ML)‐based models lack interpretability; that is, it is difficult to explain the reasons behind individual predictions.
