Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Effect of Feeding Specific Polysaccharide on Resistance to Pneumococcus.
The author has demonstrated that feeding the pneumococcus to white rats produces an increased resistance to the living organism. The acid killed intact cell,1 the bile salt dissolved organism2 and the mechanically disrupted pneumococcus2 have been found effective as immunizing agents when administered by mouth.

An organ-specific view on nonhost resistance
Nonhost resistance (NHR) is the resistance of plants to a plethora of non-adapted pathogens and is considered as one of the most robust resistance mechanisms of plants. Studies have shown that the efficiency of resistance in general and NHR in particular

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
