Testis‐Enriched F‐Box Protein FBXO39 Is Important for Spermiogenesis and Male Fertility in Mice

open access: yesAndrology, Volume 14, Issue 6, Page 1636-1646, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background The SCF (Skp–Cullin–F‐box) complex is a major class of E3 ubiquitin ligases. F‐box proteins constitute the SCF complex and play a critical role in recognizing substrates for ubiquitination. In mice, several F‐box proteins, including FBXO36 and FBXO39, are predominantly expressed in testes.

Cyclic Treatment With WIN 18,446, a Potential Male Contraceptive, is as Effective as Continuous Treatment for Suppression of Spermatogenesis in Mice

open access: yesAndrology, Volume 14, Issue 6, Page 1472-1478, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Retinoic acid plays a critical role in spermatogenesis during both spermatogonial differentiation and spermiation. Mice lacking enzymes that synthesize retinoic acid, Aldh1a1/1a2, in the testes are infertile. WIN 18,446 reversibly inhibits spermatogenesis by inhibiting ALDH1A1/1A2 and is a promising approach to male contraception ...

Variants in ZZS Complex‐Associated Genes TEX11 and M1AP Are Responsible for Male Infertility and Nonobstructive Azoospermia

open access: yesAndrology, Volume 14, Issue 6, Page 1847-1858, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Nonobstructive azoospermia (NOA) is the most severe form of male infertility, with genetic factors contributing to approximately 30% of cases. However, only a small fraction of all NOA cases can be explained by the current genetic findings.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 20, Issue 8, Page 1913-1932, August 2026.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Serine Ameliorates Cadmium‐Induced Testicular Injury by Regulating the PGAM1/PHGDH Signaling Pathway

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 8, August 2026.
Serine mitigates cadmium‐induced testicular injury in mice by inhibiting the PGAM1/PHGDH pathway, restoring ion homeostasis and glycolysis, and relieving oxidative stress, inflammation, fibrosis, and apoptosis. ABSTRACT Cadmium (Cd) is a widespread environmental contaminant that impairs male reproductive function; however, the metabolic mechanisms ...

Nano‐Rosmarinic Acid Protects Against Chlorfenapyr‐Induced Testicular Toxicity Through Modulation of NRF2/HO‐1 and NF‐κB/NLRP3 Signaling Pathways

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 8, August 2026.
Chlorfenapyr reduces testicular weight, sperm quality, and reproductive hormones. This study highlights that RA within chitosan nanoparticles (RA‐CHNPs) are superior to Rosmarinic acid in mitigating CFP‐induced testicular damage. RA within chitosan nanoparticles leads to the reduction of NF‐κB and NLRP3 expression in seminiferous tubules and activates ...

The impact of hydroalcoholic extracts of Peganum harmala and Piper longum on pituitary- gonad axis hormone levels of male NMRI mice

open access: yesیافته‌های نوین در علوم زیستی, 2017
Several therapeutic effects have been reported for Peganum harmala and Piper longum. These plants contain flavonoids that probably can affect reproductive endocrine system and reduce fertility.

Elevated LncRNA LINC00966 Suppresses PDE2A to Impair Sperm Motility in Asthenozoospermia

open access: yesFASEB BioAdvances, Volume 8, Issue 8, August 2026.
This study identifies LINC00966 as an upregulated lncRNA in asthenozoospermia associated with reduced sperm quality. Linc00966 suppresses Pde2a, disrupts cGMP signaling, and promotes oxidative stress, thereby impairing spermatogenic cell viability and migration.

AID‐Mediated Protein Knockdown Reveals the Requirement of NANOS2 in Prenatal Gonocytes for Establishing Functional Spermatogonial Stem Cells

open access: yesDevelopment, Growth &Differentiation, Volume 68, Issue 6, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The RNA‐binding protein NANOS2 plays a crucial role in male gonocyte development and the maintenance of spermatogonial stem cells. In the absence of the Nanos2 gene (Nanos2‐KO), germ cells fail to enter G0 arrest and initiate the male differentiation program (including DNA methylation and the piRNA pathway), ultimately undergoing apoptosis ...

Deletion of Mgat2 in spermatogonia blocks spermatogenesis

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology
Identifying factors required for spermatogenesis is important for understanding mechanisms of male fertility. Inactivation of either the Mgat1 or Man2a2 gene leads to a block in spermatogenesis causing infertility in male mice. MGAT1 GlcNAc-transferase initiates complex N-glycan synthesis and MAN2A2 mannosidase generates the substrate for MGAT2 GlcNAc ...
