Very-long-chain fatty acid sphingomyelin in nuclear lipid microdomains of hepatocytes and hepatoma cells: can the exchange from C24:0 to C16:0 affect signal proteins and vitamin D receptor?

open access: yesMolecular Biology of the Cell, 2015
The 24:0 sphingomyelin of nuclear lipid microdomains from normal cells shifts to 16:0 sphingomyelin in nuclear lipid microdomains from cancer cells.

Lipid metabolism and inflammation as key drivers in preterm birth: A comprehensive analysis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To investigate the alterations in lipid metabolites and circulating inflammatory factors associated with preterm birth, elucidate their interactions, and uncover the underlying pathophysiologic mechanisms. By identifying potential predictive biomarkers and informing the development of effective therapeutic interventions, this ...

Sphingomyelin and ceramide-phosphoethanolamine synthesis by microsomes and plasma membranes from rat liver and brain.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1987
Pulse-chase experiments showed that phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) was the direct precursor for ceramide-phosphoethanolamine, a sphingomyelin analogue, in the same way as phosphatidylcholine was for sphingomyelin.

Gentamicin Arrests Cancer Cell Growth: The Intriguing Involvement of Nuclear Sphingomyelin Metabolism

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2015
The use of gentamicin for the treatment of bacterial infection has always been an interesting and highly speculated issue for the scientific community. Conversely, its effect on cancer cells has been very little investigated.

Microbiota humanization drives human‐like metabolic and immune transcriptomic shifts in pigs

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
This study successfully established gut microbiota‐humanized pigs, achieved human‐like remodeling of the serum metabolome, and uncovered transcriptional alterations in immune cell subsets. These findings advance our understanding of how human gastrointestinal microorganisms affect host metabolism and the immune function in a porcine model.

Mechanisms involved in cellular ceramide homeostasis

open access: yesNutrition & Metabolism, 2012
Sphingolipids are ubiquitous and critical components of biological membranes. Their biosynthesis starts with soluble precursors in the endoplasmic reticulum and culminates in the Golgi complex and plasma membrane. Ceramides are important intermediates in

Origin and characterization of cyclodepsipeptides: Comprehensive structural approaches with focus on mass spectrometry analysis of alkali‐cationized molecular species

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
Abstract Cyclodepsipeptides (CDPs) represent a huge family of chemically and structurally diverse molecules with a wide ability for molecular interactions. CDPs are cyclic peptide‐related natural products made up of both proteinogenic and nonproteinogenic amino acids linked by amide and ester bonds.
