Apoptotic signaling through CD95 (Fas/Apo-1) activates an acidic sphingomyelinase. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Intracellular pathways leading from membrane receptor engagement to apoptotic cell death are still poorly characterized. We investigated the intracellular signaling generated after cross-linking of CD95 (Fas/Apo-1 antigen), a broadly expressed cell ...

Exocarpium Citri Grandis‐Derived Extracellular Vesicle‐Like Particles for Accelerating Wound Healing via Regulating the Protein Expression on the VEGF/AKT Signaling Pathway

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
Our findings indicate that ECG‐EVLP can effectively promote wound healing and the activation of the VEGF/AKT signaling pathway in vitro and in vivo, coupled with the inhibition of the mitochondrial apoptosis pathway in cells following ECG‐EVLP stimulation might be its underlying mechanism.

Ventilator‐Induced Lung Injury: Mechanotransduction and Potential Therapeutic Targets

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 2, February 2026.
Mechanical ventilation (MV) is expected to undergo significant transformative advancements by 2050, with the emergence of personalized ventilation systems that promise to revolutionize respiratory care. However, the risk of ventilator‐induced lung injury (VILI) remains a significant concern at this stage and VILI still exists at that time.

Sphingosine kinase 1 and cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
BackgroundSphingosine kinase 1 (SK1) is a key regulator of the dynamic ceramide/sphingosine 1-phosphate rheostat balance and important in the pathological cancer genesis, progression, and metastasis processes.

LPS and palmitate synergistically stimulate sphingosine kinase 1 and increase sphingosine 1 phosphate in RAW264.7 macrophages

open access: yesJournal of Leukocyte Biology, 2018
It has been well established that patients with diabetes or metabolic syndrome (MetS) have increased prevalence and severity of periodontitis, an oral infection initiated by bacteria and characterized by tissue inflammation and destruction. To understand

Importin α5 Regulates Anxiety through MeCP2 and Sphingosine Kinase 1

open access: yesCell Reports, 2018
Summary: Importins mediate transport from synapse to soma and from cytoplasm to nucleus, suggesting that perturbation of importin-dependent pathways should have significant neuronal consequences.

Sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor 2 restrains egress of γδ T cells from the skin. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Maintenance of a population of IL-17-committed γδ T cells in the dermis is important in promoting tissue immunity. However, the signals facilitating γδ T cell retention within the dermis remain poorly understood.

Non‐Coding RNAs in Breast Cancer Radioresistance: Mechanisms, Functional Roles and Translational Potentials

open access: yesCell Proliferation, Volume 59, Issue 2, February 2026.
Non‐coding RNAs (ncRNAs) regulate breast cancer radioresistance via cell cycle, DNA repair and tumour microenvironment pathways. Targeting ncRNAs (e.g., HOTAIR and miR‐155) with RNA‐based therapies (ASOs and CRISPR) shows promise but faces delivery challenges.

Involvement of sphingosine kinase/sphingosine 1-phosphate metabolic pathway in spondyloarthritis

open access: yesBone, 2017
Spondyloarthritis (SpA) is a relatively common chronic inflammatory joint disorder, with a prevalence of about 0.2-0.5% worldwide. The primary target of the pathological process is the enthesis, where tendons and ligaments attach to underlying bone.
