CKAP2 ensures chromosomal stability by maintaining the integrity of microtubule nucleation sites. [PDF]
Integrity of the microtubule spindle apparatus and intact cell division checkpoints are essential to ensure the fidelity of distributing chromosomes into daughter cells.

A spindle-like apparatus guides bacterial chromosome segregation [PDF]
Until recently, a dedicated mitotic apparatus that segregates newly replicated chromosomes into daughter cells was believed to be unique to eukaryotic cells. Here we demonstrate that the bacterium Caulobacter crescentus segregates its chromosome using a partitioning (Par) apparatus that has surprising similarities to eukaryotic spindles.

A regulatory effect of INMAP on centromere proteins: antisense INMAP induces CENP-B variation and centromeric halo. [PDF]
CENP-B is a highly conserved protein that facilitates the assembly of specific centromere structures both in interphase nuclei and on mitotic chromosomes. INMAP is a conserved protein that localizes at nucleus in interphase cells and at mitotic apparatus

Dominant-Negative Effects of Adult-Onset Huntingtin Mutations Alter the Division of Human Embryonic Stem Cells-Derived Neural Cells. [PDF]
Mutations of the huntingtin protein (HTT) gene underlie both adult-onset and juvenile forms of Huntington's disease (HD). HTT modulates mitotic spindle orientation and cell fate in mouse cortical progenitors from the ventricular zone.

Microtubule and Actin Cytoskeletal Dynamics in Male Meiotic Cells of Drosophila melanogaster
Drosophila dividing spermatocytes offer a highly suitable cell system in which to investigate the coordinated reorganization of microtubule and actin cytoskeleton systems during cell division of animal cells.

Evolutionary cell biology of chromosome segregation: insights from trypanosomes [PDF]
Faithful transmission of genetic material is essential for the survival of all organisms. Eukaryotic chromosome segregation is driven by the kinetochore that assembles onto centromeric DNA to capture spindle microtubules and govern the movement of ...

Actin filaments are widely involved in multiple cellular processes in oocyte meiosis, such as spindle migration and polar body extrusion. The actin nucleators like Arp2/3 complex and formins are the most recognized molecules for actin assembly in oocytes.

Summary: Here we identify human Kinesin-5, Kif11/HsEg5, as a cellular target of Zika protease. We show that Zika NS2B-NS3 protease targets several sites within the motor domain of HsEg5 irrespective of motor binding to microtubules.
