Arthrospira (Spirulina) platensis: An effective biosorbent for nutrients

open access: yesProcess Biochemistry, 2020
Arthrospira (Spirulina) platensis was tested for biosorption properties. Preliminary experiments concerning bio-sorption kinetics were performed on Cr(III) ions. Equilibrium of biosorption was tested for Cr(III), Mn(II) and Mg(II) ions, since these elements are crucial for animals with metabolic disorders.

Spirulina platensis effects on the levels of total cholesterol, HDL and triacylglycerols in rabbits fed with a hypercholesterolemic diet

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 2008
In this work, hypercholesterolemia was induced in rabbits by feeding them a high cholesterol diet (CD, 350 mg/d) and the effects of supplementing this diet with 0.5 g/d Spirulina platensis was evaluated by measuring the levels of serum total-cholesterol (

Combined Effects of Algae‐Supplemented Feeding Regimes and Water Temperature on Sperm Quality of Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio) Broodstock During Spawning

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 6, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT This exploratory study investigated associations between dietary algae supplementation (1% and 3%) and sperm quality in male common carp (Cyprinus carpio) broodstock during two consecutive spawning seasons under commercial farming conditions. Sperm quality was evaluated using conventional motility and kinetic parameters together with analyses ...
