Abstract The phenology of vegetative and reproductive patterns, shoot growth, and the physiological and anatomical plasticity of leaves of ciruela mexicana (Spondias purpurea L.) exposed to different ranges of light are described. Flower and fruit production occur during the dry season. Shoot elongation occurs during late spring and summer.

Antioxidant films and coatings based on starch and phenolics from Spondias purpurea L.

The objective of this study was to prepare, for the first time, active films and coatings from fruit starch (SPFS) and phenolic stem bark extract (SBPE) from Spondias purpurea L. Starch film formulations were prepared with different SBPE contents (5-20 wt% on starch), then cast and dried into films.

RESPIRATION AND ETHYLENE PRODUCTION RATES OF CHILI PLUMS (,SPONDIAS PURPUREA L) DURING STORAGE

The chili plum is found throughout the Caribbean and Central American regions and is consumed in the fresh and processed states. Respiration and ethylene production rates were determined in fruit harvested at three different stages of maturation (immature, mature-green and turning) when stored up to 14 days at 4-5°C, 9-10°C, 20-21°C and 30-31°C.
