Effect of Lactobacillus plantarum LS/07 on Intestinal Bacterial Enzyme Activities in the Prevention of Cancer, Atherosclerosis and Dysbiosis

open access: yesActa Veterinaria, 2016
The effect of the probiotic strain Lactobacillus plantarum LS/07 on intestinal bacterial enzyme activities – β-glucuronidase (β-GLUCUR), β-galactosidase (β-GAL), and β-glucosidase (β-GLU) in the prevention of cancer, atherosclerosis and dysbiosis was ...

Resveratrol prevents cisplatin-induced lipid peroxidation in the non-gravid uterus of Sprague-Dawley rats

open access: yesMiddle East Fertility Society Journal, 2018
Background: Several studies have demonstrated Cisplatin-induced toxicity on the ovary. However, there is a dearth of literature on the effect of Cisplatin on the non-gravid uterus.

In-vivo experimental model for silicosis : fisher 344, sprague dawley and wistar rat strains [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
The selection of an experimental model for silicosis requires a thorough understanding of a number of different pulmonary parameters specific to the animal that is to be used (e.g., clearance time, penetration curves, anatomical differences...), and of ...

Rat mammary carcinogenesis following neutron- or X-radiation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
Female 61 to 63 - day - old Sprague-Dawley rats were exposed once to a single dose of either 0.43 - MeV neutrons or 250 - kVX - rays . For neutrons 23 rats were exposed in plastic tubes rotated around and 31 c m from a water-cooled tritium impregnated ...

Enhanced Endoscopic Internal Drainage of Gastric Abscess Through Additively Manufactured Stents

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Postoperative gastric leaks are often treated with off‐label biliary double‐pigtail stents, yet conventional extruded designs are not optimized for leak anatomy, can migrate, and may limit abscess evacuation. PETALS is introduced to optimize transmural drainage geometry and enable patient‐specific 3D‐printable stents.

Comprehensive behavioural analysis of Long Evans and Sprague-Dawley rats reveals differential effects of housing conditions on tests relevant to neuropsychiatric disorders.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Genetic (G) and environmental (E) manipulations are known to alter behavioural outcomes in rodents, however many animal models of neuropsychiatric disorders only use a restricted selection of strain and housing conditions.

Enhanced Infection Resistance and Regenerative Healing of Titanium Implants via Peptide‐Loaded Biodegradable Coatings

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study presents a new biodegradable coating for titanium implants using a natural antimicrobial peptide, caerin 1.9. Applied via solvent casting, the coating offers sustained antibacterial protection and promotes healing. Tested on 3D‐printed porous titanium scaffolds, it effectively prevented infection—including against resistant bacteria—while ...

Daidzein ameliorates peripheral neuropathy in Sprague Dawley rats

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology
Neuropathy is the most common disorder comprising peripheral nerve damage in diabetic patients. Prolonged hyperglycaemia and oxidative stress cause metabolic imbalance and are the key reasons for the development of diabetic neuropathy.

Spontaneous Odontoameloblastoma in a Female Sprague Dawley Rat [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Diagnostic Investigation, 2010
The present report describes a spontaneously developing, highly infiltrative, and expansile neoplasm in the mandible of a 9-month-old female Sprague Dawley rat. The lesion consisted of abundant odontogenic epithelium with induction of osteodentin in the adjacent mesenchyme and was classified therefore as an odontoameloblastoma. Odontoameloblastomas are
