Rapid and sensitive quantification of C3- and C6-phosphoesters in starch by fluorescence-assisted capillary electrophoresis [PDF]
Phosphate groups are naturally present in starch at C3- or C6-position of the glucose residues and impact the structure of starch granules. Their precise quantification is necessary for understanding starch physicochemical properties and metabolism. Nevertheless, reliable quantification of Glc-3-P remains laborious and time consuming.

Elaboration and characterization of bioplastic films based on bitter cassava starch (Manihot esculenta) reinforced by chitosan extracted from crab (Shylla seratta) shells [PDF]
Bioplastics are polymer plastics which are derived from renewable biomass resources. In this study, bioplastic films based on two different polysaccharides such as bitter cassava starch and chitosan extracted from crab shells were produced by casting technique, using glycerol as plasticizer.

Optical and structural properties of starch films formed on drying droplets of gelatinized starch solutions [PDF]
We report the optical and structural properties of starch films formed on drying droplets of starch solutions on a flat substrate. The starch films formed after drying are circular in shape and have an azimuthally symmetric "M-shaped" height profile along their diameter.

Morphometric analysis of polygonal cracking patterns in desiccated starch slurries [PDF]
We investigate the geometry of two-dimensional polygonal cracking that forms on the air-exposed surface of dried starch slurries. Two different kinds of starches, made from potato and corn, exhibited distinguished crack evolution, and there were contrasting effects of slurry thickness on the probability distribution of the polygonal cell area.

On the Echogenicity of Natural Starch-Based Blood Mimicking Fluids for Contrast Enhanced Ultrasound Imaging: Preliminary In-vitro Experiments [PDF]
Natural starch-based blood-mimicking fluid (BMF) has been used as an alternative to commercially available BMFs for in-vitro Doppler investigations in low-resource settings. Most reported works in the literature have used corn starch-based BMF. Evaluation of other natural starches for potential BMF and their characterization have relatively been ...
