The asthma-COPD overlap syndrome: Transcription factors GATA3 and STAT6 as possible markers
European Respiratory Journal, 2014The aim of the study is to analyze an expression of transcription factors (GATA3, STAT6, et al.) and IFN-γ in peripheral blood of patients with asthma-COPD overlap syndrome and asthma. Materials and methods. 24 patients with asthma and 18 with asthma-COPD overlap syndrome were examined.

The implication of the STAT6 transcription factor in several human diseases makes the regulation of its activity a topic of great biological interest. The activation of this transcription factor is tightly regulated by kinases, phosphatases, and proteases.
