Ipertrofan Revisited—The Proposal of the Complete Stereochemistry of Mepartricin A and B

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
Being a methyl ester of partricin, the mepartricin complex is the active substance of a drug called Ipertrofan (Tricandil), which was proven to be useful in treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia and chronic nonbacterial prostatitis/chronic pelvic ...

Mannich base-connected syntheses mediated by ortho-quinone methides

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2018
This article provides an overview about specifically modified Mannich reactions where the process involves an ortho-quinone methide (o-QM) intermediate.

Synthesis, Enantiomeric Resolution and Biological Evaluation of HIV Capsid Inhibition Activity for Racemic, (S)- and (R)-PF74

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
PF74 is a capsid-targeting inhibitor of HIV replication that effectively perturbs the highly sensitive viral uncoating process. A lack of information regarding the optical purity (enantiomeric excess) of the single stereogenic centre of PF74 has resulted

Nucleophilic substitution vs elimination reaction of bisulfide ions with substituted methanes: exploration of chiral selectivity by stereodirectional first-principles dynamics and transition state theory [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Molecular Modeling (2019) 25: 227, 2021
Control of molecular orientation is emerging as crucial for the characterization of the stereodynamics of kinetics processes beyond structural stereochemistry. The special role played in chiral discrimination phenomena has been particularly emphasized by the authors after their extensive probes of experimental control of molecular alignment and ...

Modifying the stereochemistry of an enzyme-catalyzed reaction by directed evolution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Aldolases have potential as tools for the synthesis of stereochemically complex carbohydrates. Here, we show that directed evolution can be used to alter the stereochemical course of the reaction catalyzed by tagatose-1,6-bisphosphate aldolase.

Chiral Discrimination in Helicity-Preserving Fabry-Pérot Cavities [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. A 107, L021501 (2023), 2022
We theoretically study circular dichroism of chiral molecules embedded inside a helicity-preserving Fabry-P\'erot cavity. We find an increase of the intrinsic chiroptical response of the molecules by 2 orders of magnitude and report the first clear signature of chiral cavity polaritons upon entering the regime of strong light-matter coupling.

The Stereochemistry of Ketoreduction [PDF]

open access: yesChemistry & Biology, 2005
In this issue of Chemistry & Biology, Leadlay and coworkers report overproduction of a number of ketoreductase domains from modular polyketide synthases. These discrete enzymes allow the stereochemistry of polyketide ketoreduction to be studied in isolation.
