Seed lipid profiles of perennial ryegrass: Global patterns and differentiation of ryegrass cultivars and Epichloë endophytes

open access: yesGrassland Research, EarlyView.
Seed lipid profiles from three ryegrass cultivars infected with AR501 show distinct changes in the medium‐chain diacylglycerols, triacylglycerols and sphingolipids. The differential peal LN745.5052_5.78 can be identified as PG 16:0_18:2 with the supporting ms2 fragmentation spectrum. Abstract Background Forage perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) has

POTENTIAL HEALTHCARE SAVINGS FROM PLANT STEROL ENRICHED FOODS IN CANADA

open access: yes
Increased consumption of foods containing plant sterols has the potential to reduce the incidence of coronary heart disease (CHD) and thus reduce costs associated with treating that disease in a significant way.

Sterol requirements in Drosophila melanogaster

open access: yes, 2009
Sterol is an abundant component of eukaryotic cell membranes and is thought to influence membrane properties such as permeability, fluidity and microdomain formation.

Plant sterol metabolism. Δ(7)-Sterol-C5-desaturase (STE1/DWARF7), Δ(5,7)-sterol-Δ(7)-reductase (DWARF5) and Δ(24)-sterol-Δ(24)-reductase (DIMINUTO/DWARF1) show multiple subcellular localizations in Arabidopsis thaliana (Heynh) L.

open access: yes, 2013
Sterols are crucial lipid components that regulate membrane permeability and fluidity and are the precursors of bioactive steroids. The plant sterols exist as three major forms, free sterols, steryl glycosides and steryl esters.

Enhanced peripheral blood mononuclear cell lipid metabolism drives poor immunotherapy response via ferroptotic stress‐induced T cell exhaustion in hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Integrated multi‐omics reveals that CD36‐mediated lipid overload in PBMCs drives T cell exhaustion via sub‐lethal ferroptotic stress and AKT suppression. This systemic metabolic signature serves as a robust predictor of immunotherapy response in HCC, suggesting that modulating lipid metabolism can rescue immune fitness.

Organizational and Functional Principles of the Obligate Respiratory Chain Supercomplex

open access: yesJournal of the Chinese Chemical Society, EarlyView.
In this review we deliver a comprehensive structural analysis of the actinobacterial respiratory chain supercomplex and discuss the principles underlying the assembly of its supramolecular architecture. ABSTRACT Proton translocating respiratory chain complexes assemble into supramolecular structures in their native cellular environment, yet the ...

Hybrid Quatsome‐Encapsulated Silver Nanoparticles as Stable Plasmonic Substrates for Surface‐Enhanced Raman Scattering

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
In this work, silver nanoparticles encapsulated within quatsome membranes have shown to preserve their plasmonic properties for at least 165 days without aggregation. These hybrid nanostructures enable strong SERS enhancement of pyrene and Prodan by confining the molecules within a few nanometers from the silver surface.

Fatty Acid Composition, Tocopherol and Sterol Contents in Linseed (Linum usitatissimum L.) Varieties [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, 2017
The oil contents of linseeds were determined between 39.9% (Antares) and 43.3%  (Railinus). The oleic acid contents of seed oils varied between 0.8% (Maroc) and 24.8 (Railinus).
