Control failure risk, resistance and enzymatic activity of neurotoxic insecticides in Brazilian populations of Leucoptera coffeella (Lepidoptera: Lyonetiidae)

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Bioassays of 36 Leucoptera coffeella populations revealed resistance to neurotoxic insecticides, control failures of ≤62.9% and enzyme activity variation, with particularly high GST and low AChE levels. Abstract Background Leucoptera coffeella is a key pest of coffee crops in Brazil, causing significant damage by mining coffee leaves.

Stigmasterol alleviates airway inflammation in OVA-induced asthmatic mice via inhibiting the TGF-β1/Smad2 and IL-17A signaling pathways

open access: yesAging
Stigmasterol is a common dietary phytosterol with high nutritional value and physiological activity. In this study, we evaluated the effects of stigmasterol on inflammatory cytokines and the TGF-β1/Smad2 and IL-17A signaling pathway in an ovalbumin (OVA)-

Ashwagandha: Is It Safe? Part 2: A Preclinical Evidence Review

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The preclinical evidence for the safety of ashwagandha (Withania somnifera (L.) Dunal, AS) is reviewed, and its preparations (extracts) and constituents, from the general toxicity in animal models to in vitro and cell culture studies, which may elucidate mechanisms of action and explain clinical case reports.

Stigmasterol and its esters encapsulated in liposomes: Characterization, stability, and derivative formation.

open access: yesFood Chemistry
Dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine liposomes were encapsulated with free stigmasterol (ST), stigmasteryl myristate (ME), and stigmasteryl oleate (OE). Their quality was determined using TEM, FT-IR spectroscopy, zeta potential and hydrodynamic diameter.

Advances in cholesterol and lipoproteins detection for healthcare: A review

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Cholesterol is one of the main biomarkers related to the development of cardiovascular diseases. Its detection still relies on traditional methods of analysis, such as gas and liquid chromatographies. Detection of free cholesterol in saliva with redox or enzymatic sensors or detection of lipoproteins in blood with aptamer sensors are currently the most
