Hydroxypropyl‐β‐cyclodextrin (HPβCD)–N,N‐diethyl‐meta‐toluamide (DEET) complex extended tick repellency to 168 h. Full protection against Aedes aegypti for 7 h with HPβCD‐DEET. HPβCD reduced DEET release and skin retention significantly. No embryotoxicity observed below 325 mg L−1 in zebrafish model.

Ultrastructural Evidence of Stratum Corneum Permeabilization Induced by Photomechanical Waves
Photomechanical waves (high amplitude pressure transients generated by lasers) have been shown to permeabilize the stratum corneum in vivo and facilitate the transport of macromolecules into the viable epidermis.

Imaging the electric field associated with mouse and human skin wounds
We have developed a noninvasive instrument called the bioelectric field imager (BFI) for mapping the electric field between the epidermis and the stratum corneum near wounds in both mouse and human skin.

This study presents a novel dual‐layer microneedle platform for psoriasis treatment, integrating rapid itch relief with sustained immunomodulatory and antibacterial effects. By combining difelikefalin and methotrexate‐zinc, this system effectively targets pruritus, epidermal hyperplasia, immune dysregulation, and infection, offering a promising ...

Ethnicity and stratum corneum ceramides
BACKGROUND: The barrier function of the skin is dependent on an optimal composition of the stratum corneum lipids, exemplified by the altered lipid profile in patients with atopic eczema (AE).

Inflammatory skin diseases are driven by immune dysregulation and cytokine imbalance. A challenge persists in profiling cytokines in microscopically derived biopsy skin samples due to low protein content. This study introduces a digital SERS immunoassay to simultaneously detect IL‐17A, IL‐22, IL‐23, and TNF at trace concentrations as low as 104 aM. The

Preparation of Liposomes from Stratum Corneum Lipids
Mammalian stratum corneum contains multiple intercellular lipid bilayers that contitute the epidermal water barrier. Unlike all other biologic membranes, the epidermal lamellae do not contain phospholipids, as a result of which the ability of the stratum

Staging concept for aging management: Definition, mechanism, and coping strategies
We divided the overall aging stage into “pre‐aging”, “aging compensation”, and “aging disability”. For each stage, we delineate the clinical presentations, biological phenomena, theoretical underpinnings, and key management priorities. Abstract Aging, as a gradual and largely irreversible biological process, characterized by declining organismal ...
