Pleiotropic regulatory genes bldA, adpA and absB are implicated in production of phosphoglycolipid antibiotic moenomycin [PDF]

open access: yesOpen Biology, 2013
Unlike the majority of actinomycete secondary metabolic pathways, the biosynthesis of peptidoglycan glycosyltransferase inhibitor moenomycin in Streptomyces ghanaensis does not involve any cluster-situated regulators (CSRs).

Calcite moonmilk of microbial origin in the Etruscan Tomba degli Scudi in Tarquinia, Italy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
A white deposit covering the walls in the Stanza degli Scudi of the Tomba degli Scudi, Tarquinia, Italy, has been investigated. In this chamber, which is still preserved from any kind of intervention such as cleaning and sanitization, ancient Etruscans ...

The antimicrobial potential of Streptomyces from insect microbiomes

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Antimicrobial resistance is a global health crisis and few novel antimicrobials have been discovered in recent decades. Natural products, particularly from Streptomyces, are the source of most antimicrobials, yet discovery campaigns focusing on ...

Production and Characterization of α-Amylase from Indigenously Isolated Streptomyces sp.

open access: yesBioResources, 2022
Streptomyces species have been exploited widely as microbial cell factories, especially for antibiotic production. However, their potential for alpha-amylase production has not been extensively studied.

Systems and synthetic biology to elucidate secondary metabolite biosynthetic gene clusters encoded in Streptomyces genomes.

open access: yesNatural product reports (Print), 2021
Covering: 2010 to 2020Over the last few decades, Streptomyces have been extensively investigated for their ability to produce diverse bioactive secondary metabolites. Recent advances in Streptomyces research have been largely supported by improvements in

Genome sequencing analysis of Streptomyces coelicolor mutants that overcome the phosphate-depending vancomycin lethal effect [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background Glycopeptide antibiotics inhibit bacterial cell-wall synthesis, and are important for the treatment of infections caused by multi drug-resistant strains of enterococci, streptococci and staphylococci.

Streptomyces alkaliterrae sp. nov., isolated from an alkaline soil, and emended descriptions of Streptomyces alkaliphilus, Streptomyces calidiresistens and Streptomyces durbertensis [PDF]

open access: yesSystematic and Applied Microbiology, 2020
A polyphasic study was undertaken to establish the taxonomic position of six representative streptomycetes isolated from an alkaline soil adjacent to a meteoric alkaline soda lake in India. Chemotaxonomic, cultural and morphological properties of the isolates were consistent with their classification in the genus Streptomyces.
