Proteasome inhibitors prevent cell death and prolong survival of mice challenged by Shiga toxin
Shiga toxin (Stx) causes fatal systemic complications. Stx induces apoptosis, but the mechanism of which is unclear. We report that Stx induced rapid reduction of short‐lived anti‐apoptotic proteins followed by activation of caspase 9 and the progression

Smart Nanodelivery Systems for Immunometabolic Modulation in Osteoarthritis
Smart nanodelivery systems deliver therapeutic payloads across the cartilage matrix to ensure their sustained accumulation within chondrocytes at sites of injury. By targeting specific molecular targets and signaling pathways, these platforms modulate the pathological synovium‐cartilage axis to restore immunometabolic homeostasis and drive tissue ...

Effect of anti-Stx IgY given via different routes from Stx on mortality of mice.
(A) ppStx-1 (2.5 times LD50) and (B) ppStx-2 (2 times LD50) were administered i.p. to ddY mice. Anti-Stx-1 IgY and anti-Stx-2 IgY were given i.v. at doses of 50 and 100 mg/kg at 10 min before challenge. Control mice were given PBS instead of anti-Stx IgY.

Rapid and Simple Method for the Detection of Shigatoxins (STxs)
Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) is an emerged bacterial agent as the cause of bloody diarrhea and a leading cause of hemolytic uremic syndrome in children. In our country, serotype O 157:H7 is the predominant pathogen in the EHEC and the most frequently seen in human infections.

Shiga Toxin (Stx) Classification, Structure, and Function [PDF]
ABSTRACT Shiga toxin (Stx) is one of the most potent bacterial toxins known. Stx is found in Shigella dysenteriae 1 and in some serogroups of Escherichia coli (called Stx1 in E. coli ). In addition to or instead of Stx1, some E.
