Thermodynamics of exotic matter with constant w=P/E [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
We consider a substance with equation of state $P=wE$ at constant $w$ and find that it is an ideal gas of quasi-particles with the energy spectrum $\epsilon_p\sim p^{wq}$ that can constitute either regular matter (when $w>0$) or exotic matter (when $w<0$) in a $q$-dimensional space.

Identification of functional and diverse circulating cancer‐associated fibroblasts in metastatic castration‐naïve prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) promote cancer growth, invasion (metastasis), and drug resistance. Here, we identified functional and diverse circulating CAFs (cCAFs) in patients with metastatic prostate cancer (mPCa). cCAFs were found in higher numbers and were functional and diverse in mPCa patients versus healthy individuals, suggesting their ...

Gender Differences in Smoking Among an Urban Emergency Department Sample. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BackgroundUrban emergency department (ED) patients have elevated smoking and substance use compared with the general population. We analyzed gender differences in smoking among an urban ED sample and assessed the contribution of substance use ...

Substance P blockade effects on peripheral blood leukocytic reaction in secondary chronic inflammation

open access: yesJournal of Education, Health and Sport, 2019
In an experimental prospective controlled study the leukocyte response of peripheral blood on the background of blockade of receptors of substance P was studied on the carrageenan model of secondary chronic inflammation in 132 rats.

Raphé Neurons Stimulate Respiratory Circuit Activity by Multiple Mechanisms via Endogenously Released Serotonin and Substance P

open access: yesJournal of Neuroscience, 2009
Brainstem serotonin (5-HT) neurons modulate activity of many neural circuits in the mammalian brain, but in many cases endogenous mechanisms have not been resolved. Here, we analyzed actions of raphé 5-HT neurons on respiratory network activity including

Surfaceome: a new era in the discovery of immune evasion mechanisms of circulating tumor cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the era of immunotherapies, many patients either do not respond or eventually develop resistance. We propose to pave the way for proteomic analysis of surface‐expressed proteins called surfaceome, of circulating tumor cells. This approach seeks to identify immune evasion mechanisms and discover potential therapeutic targets. Circulating tumor cells (
