One-Pot Transition-Metal-Free Methods for the Synthesis of All Three Bonds of the Alkyne's Triple Bond. [PDF]

open access: yesChemistry
One‐pot transition‐metal‐free methods for the synthesis of all three bonds of the alkyne's triple bond are reviewed. After analysis of several named reactions and discussion of improvements, recent advances in the synthesis of alkynes are discussed. Each section contains a proposed reaction mechanism and analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the ...

Response to Oral Dapsone in a Patient With Generalised Junctional Epidermolysis Bullosa

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Dapsone is a potent antibacterial agent used as a first‐line treatment for leprosy and employed also as an anti‐inflammatory agent. Additionally, dapsone is used for a variety of other cutaneous conditions. Herein, we report a case of intermediate junctional epidermolysis bullosa that improved significantly with oral 4,4’‐diamino‐diphenyl ...

Fluorescent Polyethers Incorporating Perylene Diimide Derivatives: Investigating a Strategy of Limiting Aggregation

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
This work focuses on the use of perylene diimide (PDI) in the main polymeric chain of poly(arylene ether)s. It attempts to unlock the emission of PDI by randomly distributing it along the main chain to avoid quenching. This is a strategy that can be incorporated toward developing materials for the active layer of Polymeric Light Emitting Diodes (PLEDs).

Bio‐Based Epoxy Resins from Estragole: Achieving High Glass Transition Temperatures Comparable to DGEBA and Simultaneously Low Viscosities

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
Two novel bio‐based epoxy monomers, diglycidyl‐4‐allylphenol (DG‐4A) and triglycidyl‐diallylphenol (TG‐DA), derived from estragole (92% and 72% bio‐content), were synthesized and cured with isophorone diamin (IPDA) and 4,4´‐diaminodiphenyl sulfone (DDS). The resins show high Tgs, with DG‐4A reaching and TG‐DA exceeding DGEBA‐based systems. These resins

Metathesis‐Sourced Epoxides in Ring‐Opening Copolymerization: Selective Access to Degradable Polythioesters

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
Metathesis‐derived cyclopentene epoxides enable strictly alternating, scrambling‐free ring‐opening copolymerization with phthalic thioanhydride, yielding well‐defined polythioesters with molecular weights up to ∼38 kg/mol. Their performance extends to oxygen‐based anhydrides and selective terpolymerizations. Direct comparisons with all‐oxygen analogues
