A Brief History of Plastic Additives. Part 1: Antioxidants

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
The development of suitable antioxidants has been a decisive element for the success of plastics in particular in the field of polyolefins. Sterically hindered phenol structures, amines, and sulfur‐containing products including multifunctional substances comprise today´s commercial range. Stabilizers based on renewable resources and tailor‐made systems

Biomass‐Based Composite Anion Exchange Membranes Using Quaternized Chitosan and Quaternized Polydopamine Nanoparticles for Enhanced Performance

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
Composite membranes were prepared by modifying quaternized chitosan and polyviny alcohol with quaternized polydopamine. When the optimal quaternized polydopamine load was 6%, the electrical conductivity, mechanical properties and alkaline stability of the composite membranes were signficantly improved, indicating that it is expected to become a new ...

Photoaffinity labeling coupled to MS to identify peptide biological partners: Secondary reactions, for better or for worse?

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
Abstract Affinity photolabeling is a smart method to study noncovalent and transient interactions and provide a submolecular picture of the contacts between interacting partners. In this review, we will focus on the identification of peptide partners using photoaffinity labeling coupled to mass spectrometry in different contexts such as in vitro with a

One‐Step Aqueous Synthesis of Glycosyl Pyridinium Salts, Electrochemical Study, and Assessment of Utility as Precursors of Glycosyl Radicals Using Photoredox Catalysis

open access: yesChemistryOpen, EarlyView.
Unprotected glycosyl pyridinium salts may be accessed in a single step from the corresponding unprotected sugar in aqueous solution. Whilst meta‐ and para‐substitution is well tolerated, ortho substitution of the N‐heterocycle inhibits product formation. Electrochemical studies revealed reduction potentials in the range of −0.9 to −1.4 V.
