ABSTRACT Insulin secretion is a complex, vesicular transport process. Rab34 is a key regulator of intracellular vesicle transport; however, its role in insulin secretion has not yet been reported. miRNA‐9 is vital for the development and progression of the diagnosis and treatment of type 2 diabetes. This study aimed to investigate whether miR‐9 targets

Expanded genetic screening in Caenorhabditis elegans identifies new regulators and an inhibitory role for NAD+ in axon regeneration. [PDF]
The mechanisms underlying axon regeneration in mature neurons are relevant to the understanding of normal nervous system maintenance and for developing therapeutic strategies for injury.

Postnatal developmental changes in the laryngeal chemosensory cell clusters of rats
Chemosensory cell clusters appeared in the rat larynx 2 days after birth and were already connected to afferent nerve fibers. Their number increased until 3 weeks of age, then stabilized while continuing to grow through the addition of new cells. Because their number reached a plateau around the time of weaning, their development may be linked to ...

Neuronal calcium sensor synaptotagmin-9 is not involved in the regulation of glucose homeostasis or insulin secretion. [PDF]
BACKGROUND:Insulin secretion is a complex and highly regulated process. It is well established that cytoplasmic calcium is a key regulator of insulin secretion, but how elevated intracellular calcium triggers insulin granule exocytosis remains unclear ...

COCHLEATA controls spatial regulation of cytokinin and auxin during nodule development
Nodule development defects in the coch mutant include root‐like structures, reduced colonisation, and vascular disorganisation. Summary Root nodules host nitrogen‐fixing bacteria and likely evolved through modifications of the lateral root program. Members of the NOOT‐BOP‐COCH‐LIKE transcriptional coregulator family suppress root identity in nodules ...

C-terminal ECFP fusion impairs synaptotagmin 1 function: crowding out synaptotagmin 1.
To allow the monitoring of synaptotagmin 1 trafficking in vivo, we generated transgenic mice expressing a synaptotagmin 1-enhanced cyan fluorescent protein (ECFP) fusion protein under control of the Thy1 promoter. Transgenic synaptotagmin 1-ECFP is expressed throughout the brain where it localizes to synapses and marks synapses in vivo.

ABSTRACT Bladder exstrophy and epispadias complex (BEEC) is one of the most severe congenital malformations of the urogenital tract, significantly impacting continence, sexual function, and renal function. To date, the only recurrent genetic aberration identified is the 22q.11.2 microduplication, but several candidate regions and genes including ...

Elevated synaptic vesicle release probability in synaptophysin/gyrin family quadruple knockouts
Synaptophysins 1 and 2 and synaptogyrins 1 and 3 constitute a major family of synaptic vesicle membrane proteins. Unlike other widely expressed synaptic vesicle proteins such as vSNAREs and synaptotagmins, the primary function has not been resolved. Here,

Golgi apparatus-localized synaptotagmin 2 is required for unconventional secretion in Arabidopsis. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Most secretory proteins contain signal peptides that direct their sorting to the ER and secreted via the conventional ER/Golgi transport pathway, while some signal-peptide-lacking proteins have been shown to export through ER/Golgi ...
