Synthetic analogues of protein-lipid complexes [PDF]
Hypercoiling poly(styrene-alt-maleic anhydride) (PSMA) is known to undergo conformational transition in response to environmental stimuli. The association of PSMA with lipid 2-dilauryl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DLPC) produces polymer-lipid complex analogues to lipoprotein assemblies found in lung surfactant.

Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

Synthesis of diglycerides containing polyunsaturated fatty acids
Synthetic approaches to obtain diglycerides containing polyunsaturated fatty acids at C(2 ) position of glycerol were developed. These compounds can be used to generate antitumor lipids and enzymatically triggered liposomes .

14‐day casting‐induced immobilization reduced gastrocnemius muscle mass and increased non‐heme iron and ferritin heavy chain levels. Despite iron accumulation, transferrin receptor 1 and iron regulatory protein 2 were paradoxically upregulated. Lipid peroxidation was elevated without compensatory antioxidant responses.

Endogenous ether lipids differentially promote tumor aggressiveness by regulating the SK3 channel
SK3 channels are potassium channels found to promote tumor aggressiveness. We have previously demonstrated that SK3 is regulated by synthetic ether lipids, but the role of endogenous ether lipids is unknown.

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Intercompartmental communication in senescence
Senescent cells experience structural changes in the plasma membrane, endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria, lysosomes, nucleus, and cytoskeleton. These alterations disrupt crosstalk among cellular compartments, impairing vesicular trafficking, contact sites, and molecular flow.

Development of assays for biomarkers of oxidative damage to assess the efficacy of fruit-derived antioxidants : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Biochemistry at Massey University [PDF]
The diet is a very important part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Increased consumption of fruits and vegetables is one practice postulated to decrease the incidence of diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease and other disorders.
