Properties and Characterization of Monoclonal Antibodies to Tacaribe Virus
Monoclonal antibodies prepared against Tacaribe and Junin viruses have been used to define further the serological relationships between arenaviruses of the Tacaribe complex. A close relationship was found between these two viruses and the heterologous Amapari and Machupo viruses, with Pichinde virus and Parana virus being more distantly related. Among

Family‐Specific Degenerate Primer Design: A Tool to Design Consensus Degenerated Oligonucleotides
Designing degenerate PCR primers for templates of unknown nucleotide sequence may be a very difficult task. In this paper, we present a new method to design degenerate primers, implemented in family‐specific degenerate primer design (FAS‐DPD) computer software, for which the starting point is a multiple alignment of related amino acids or nucleotide ...

The Circular, Segmented Nucleocaspid of an Arenavirus-Tacaribe Virus
The nucleocapsid structures of Tacaribe virus, a member of the Arenaviridae, were purified from detergent-treated virus particles by equilibrium density gradient centrifugation. Negative-contrast electron microscopy indicated that they were coiled, circular filaments. They had a mean diam.

Nanotechnology is a science of producing and utilizing nanosized particles that are measured in nanometers. The unique size‐dependent properties make the nanoparticles superior and indispensable as they show unusual physical, chemical, and properties such as conductivity, heat transfer, melting temperature, optical properties, and magnetization. Taking

Serological Relationship of the Tacaribe Complex of Viruses to Lymphocytic Choriomeningitis Virus [PDF]
By means of the indirect fluorescent-antibody test, cross serological reactivity was demonstrated between lymphocytic choriomeningitis (LCM) virus and the viruses of the Tacaribe complex. Antisera to all members of the Tacaribe complex reacted with LCM virus; LCM antisera gave significant staining of Amapari virus, but minimal or inconsistent reactions

Several arenaviruses cause hemorrhagic fever disease in humans and pose a significant public health concern in their endemic regions. On the other hand, the prototypic arenavirus LCMV is a superb workhorse for the investigation of virus‐host interactions and associated disease.

Role of the ERK1/2 Signaling Pathway in the Replication of Junín and Tacaribe Viruses
We have previously shown that the infection of cell cultures with the arenaviruses Junín (JUNV), Tacaribe (TCRV), and Pichindé promotes the phosphorylation of mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) extracellular signal-regulated kinases ...

Expression and Purification of Z Protein from Junín Virus
Arenaviridae comprises 23 recognized virus species with a bipartite ssRNA genome and an ambisense coding strategy. The virions are enveloped and include nonequimolar amounts of each genomic RNA species, designated L and S, coding for four ORFs (N, GPC, L, and Z).
