Targeted therapy in melanoma [PDF]

open access: yesBiologics: Targets & Therapy, 2009
Malignant melanoma is a highly lethal disease unless detected early. Single-agent chemotherapy is well tolerated but is associated with very low response rates. Combination chemotherapy and biochemotherapy may improve objective response rates but do not prolong survival and are associated with greater toxicity.

Targeted Therapies for the Neurofibromatoses [PDF]

open access: yesCancers, 2021
Over the past several years, management of the tumors associated with the neurofibromatoses has been recognized to often require approaches that are distinct from their spontaneous counterparts. Focus has shifted to therapy aimed at minimizing symptoms given the risks of persistent, multiple tumors and new tumor growth.

Targeting in Cancer Therapies [PDF]

open access: yesMedical Sciences, 2016
Drug developers recruit and combine principles, procedures and strategies from chemistry, pharmacology, nanotechnology and biotechnology, focusing on the generation of functional vehicles as nano-carriers of drugs for improved stability and enhanced intracellular delivery.[...]

Targeted therapy in lymphoma [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Hematology & Oncology, 2010
AbstractDiscovery of new treatments for lymphoma that prolong survival and are less toxic than currently available agents represents an urgent unmet need. We now have a better understanding of the molecular pathogenesis of lymphoma, such as aberrant signal transduction pathways, which have led to the discovery and development of targeted therapeutics ...

Targeted Perfusion Therapy in Spinal Cord Trauma. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
We review state-of-the-art monitoring techniques for acute, severe traumatic spinal cord injury (TSCI) to facilitate targeted perfusion of the injured cord rather than applying universal mean arterial pressure targets.

Targeted Radionuclide Therapy [PDF]

open access: yesCancers, 2011
Targeted radiotherapy is an evolving and promising modality of cancer treatment. The killing of cancer cells is achieved with the use of biological vectors and appropriate radionuclides. Among the many advantages of this approach are its selectiveness in delivering the radiation to the target, relatively less severe and infrequent side effects, and the

Targeted therapies for cancer

open access: yesBMC Medicine, 2022
AbstractTargeted therapy is the key for improving overall survival while decreasing the undesirable adverse effects of cancer treatment. Patients who received matched targeted therapies showed dramatically improved overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) compared to those without matched therapies.

Targeted radionuclide therapy [PDF]

open access: yesMedical Physics, 2008
Targeted radionuclide therapy (TRT) seeks molecular and functional targets within patient tumor sites. A number of agents have been constructed and labeled with beta, alpha, and Auger emitters. Radionuclide carriers spanning a broad range of sizes; e.g., antibodies, liposomes, and constructs such as nanoparticles have been used in these studies. Uptake,

From ‘Targeted Therapy’ to Targeted Therapy [PDF]

open access: yesAnticancer Research, 2019
In early 2000, the term 'targeted therapy' became popular and was used to indicate all types of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI). However, the term targeted therapy had been used much earlier. Targeting tumor metabolism was already considered as targeted therapy, with methotrexate and 5-fluorouracil as the most successful examples.
