The Distribution of Caffeine in Tea Plant

open access: yesChagyo Kenkyu Hokoku (Tea Research Journal), 1956
In order to study the distribution of caffeine in tea plant, qualitatively the paper chromatographic method and quantitatively the Kjeldahl method were used.As the results of analyses, it was found that caffeine existed in all organs except timber and root of tea plant.

Influence of Different Shaping Techniques on the Aroma Quality and Volatile Metabolites of Green Tea Revealed by Gas Chromatography Electronic Nose and Gas Chromatography–Tandem Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesFoods
The shaping process is recognized as a crucial step in the manufacturing of green tea. However, its influence on aroma quality remains unclear. In this study, the effects of four shaping techniques, including flat green tea (FGT), straight green tea (SGT)

Global dissection of alternative splicing uncovers transcriptional diversity in tissues and associates with the flavonoid pathway in tea plant (Camellia sinensis)

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2018
Background Alternative splicing (AS) regulates mRNA at the post-transcriptional level to change gene function in organisms. However, little is known about the AS and its roles in tea plant (Camellia sinensis), widely cultivated for making a popular ...

Studies on the fertilization of tea plant.

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Breeding, 1956
The tea plant has many flowers, but they almost drop off after flowering, and the fruiting-rate is 20-30% in the crossed flowers or 3-10% in the selfed flowers. To get the fundamental knowledge on the breeding and seed production of the tea plant, we investegated cytologically, in the crossed flowers aswell as selfed ones of the same tea plant, the ...

Metabolite profiling and transcriptomic analyses reveal an essential role of UVR8-mediated signal transduction pathway in regulating flavonoid biosynthesis in tea plants (Camellia sinensis) in response to shading

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2018
Background Tea is the most popular nonalcoholic beverage worldwide for its pleasant characteristics and healthful properties. Catechins, theanine and caffeine are the major natural products in tea buds and leaves that determine tea qualities such as ...

Root-specific theanine metabolism and regulation at the single-cell level in tea plants (Camellia sinensis)

open access: yeseLife
Root-synthesized secondary metabolites are critical quality-conferring compounds of foods, plant-derived medicines, and beverages. However, information at a single-cell level on root-specific secondary metabolism remains largely unexplored.
