Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Effect of incorporation of candelilla wax oleogel on the structural properties of cake-type bread

open access: yesTecnociencia Chihuahua
The negative health effects associated with foods containing saturated and trans fats have prompted the search for healthier alternatives that preserve both sensory and technological quality.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Development and Quality Assessment of Fat-Reduced Turkish Fermented Sausage (Sucuk) Formulated with Functional Lemon Fiber

open access: yesPolish Journal of Food and Nutrition Sciences
This study aimed to produce Turkish fermented sausage (sucuk) with a reduced fat content and to minimize the quality defects typically associated with fat reduction by incorporating lemon fiber into the formulation.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Straw Retention Enables the Yield and Quality Benefits of Reduced Tillage in Winter Wheat and Spring Barley: A Long-Term Study

open access: yesAgriculture
Agronomic practices can modify cereal grain chemical composition and processing performance. Long-term evidence linking agricultural management with functionality-related quality remains limited, especially in terms of combined tillage x crop residue ...

The Influence of Mobile Technologies on the Quality of Sleep

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Physics and Engineering
The extensive usage of mobile phones across all age brackets, including children and teenagers, leads to significant exposure to Radiofrequency Electromagnetic Fields (RF-EMF). This exposure raises concerns about potential adverse effects on sleep. The current study aimed to explore the influence of mobile phone-emitted RF-EMFs on the duration and ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.
