Telomere-to-telomere genome assembly of sorghum
"Cuohu Bazi" (CHBZ) is an ancient sorghum variety collected from the fields of China, known for its agronomic traits like dwarf stature, early maturation. In this study, we present the first telomere-to-telomere (T2T) and gap-free genome assembly of CHBZ using PacBio HiFi reads, Oxford Nanopore Technologies, and Hi-C data.

Microplastics (MPs) breach the gut‐brain axis by triggering taurine‐depleting microbiota dysbiosis that accelerates Alzheimer‐like pathology in 5XFAD mice. Taurine supplementation normalizes autophagy, microglial quiescence, and cognition, and plasma taurine inversely tracks cognitive decline in ADNI participants, revealing a readily translatable ...

Relationship between DNA damage response and telomere maintenance [PDF]
This thesis was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and awarded by Brunel University.Telomeres are regions of repetitive DNA bound with a set of specialized proteins required to protect chromosomes from fusing with each other and from ...

mTert induction in p21-positive cells counteracts capillary rarefaction and pulmonary emphysema
Lung diseases develop when telomeres shorten beyond a critical point. We constructed a mouse model in which the catalytic subunit of telomerase (mTert), or its catalytically inactive form (mTertCI), is expressed from the p21Cdkn1a locus.

AI Powered Biobanks From Static Archives to Dynamic Discovery Engines
Large language models (LLMs) provide a potential framework for transforming biobanks from static data repositories into intelligent discovery engines. By enabling unified representation and analysis of multimodal biomedical data, LLM‐based systems facilitate dynamic risk prediction, biomarker identification, and mechanistic interpretation, thereby ...

Pathogenic PF4/Polyanion ELISA‐Negative Antibodies in HIT
ABSTRACT Background Platelet factor 4‐polyanion enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) are considered highly sensitive for diagnosing heparin‐induced thrombocytopenia (HIT), such that current practice guidelines recommend use of ELISA‐negative results to exclude HIT.

hTERT protein expression is independent of clinicopathological parameters and c-Myc protein expression in human breast cancer [PDF]
Background Telomerase is a ribonucleoprotein enzyme that synthesises telomeres after cell division and maintains chromosomal stability leading to cellular immortalization.

Telomeres are considered anti‐cancer targets, as telomere maintenance above a minimum length is necessary for cancer growth. Telomerase abrogation in cancer‐prone mouse models, however, only decreased tumor growth after several mouse generations when ...

Chromatin features of plant telomeric sequences at terminal versus internal positions
Epigenetic mechanisms are involved in regulation of crucial cellular processes in eukaryotic organisms. Data on the epigenetic features of plant telomeres and their epigenetic regulation were published mostly for Arabidopsis thaliana, in which the ...
