Eight Cases of Cutaneous Candidiasis Resistant to Terbinafine.

JAK Inhibitors in Psoriatic–Atopic Dermatitis Overlap: A Four‑Case Series
ABSTRACT Overlap between psoriasis and atopic dermatitis (AD) poses diagnostic and therapeutic challenges; monoclonal antibodies targeting a single axis may improve one component while worsening the other [1]. Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors act pleiotropically and may provide simultaneous control of psoriatic and eczematous inflammation [2].

AbstractBackgroundFungal infections are the most frequent dermatoses. The gold standard treatment for dermatophytosis is the squalene epoxidase (SQLE) inhibitor terbinafine. Pathogenic dermatophytes resistant to terbinafine are an emerging global threat.

Despite a frequent misconception that behavioural concerns are diagnoses of exclusion, medical conditions and behavioural disorders are frequently inter‐related. In human medicine, the ‘multidisciplinary team’ approach (MDTA) is considered the most efficacious way of managing patients with complex and chronic health conditions.

Numerous reports describe the emergence of resistance in dermatophytes, especially in T. rubrum and T. mentagrophytes/indotineae strains. We here present a review of the current status of resistance in dermatophytes worldwide.

ABSTRACT Drug hypersensitivity reactions (DHRs) are common in children and are diagnostically challenging, with cutaneous manifestations being the most common presentation. Patch testing (PT) is a well‐established tool for investigating delayed T‐cell‐mediated reactions and is widely used in patients with contact dermatitis.

Biochemical characterization of terbinafine-resistantTrichophytonrubrumisolates [PDF]
We investigated the biochemical basis for resistance in six sequential clinical isolates of Trichophyton rubrum, from the same patient, which exhibited high-level primary resistance to terbinafine. Cellular ergosterol biosynthesis was measured by incorporation of [14C]acetate, and microsomal squalene epoxidase was assayed by conversion of [3H]squalene ...

Summary Background and objectives Trichophyton indotineae is an emerging dermatophyte associated with chronic, recalcitrant dermatophytosis and terbinafine resistance due to squalene epoxidase (SQLE) mutations. We analyzed clinical characteristics, antifungal susceptibility profiles, SQLE mutations, and treatment outcomes of cases diagnosed in ...
