Determination of low tetanus or diphtheria antitoxin titers in sera by a toxin neutralization assay and a modified toxin-binding inhibition test

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 2007
A method for the screening of tetanus and diphtheria antibodies in serum using anatoxin (inactivated toxin) instead of toxin was developed as an alternative to the in vivo toxin neutralization assay based on the toxin-binding inhibition test (TOBI test).

Development of IgY antibodies for control of tetanus [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnology in Animal Husbandry, 2015
Tetanus is a cut and often highly fatal infectious disease that affects both human and animals; the disease caused by exotoxin which produced by C. tetani.

Conflicting adaptations in an inhibitory feedback circuit

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend We studied activity‐dependent adaptation in the fruit fly Drosophila’s memory centre, the mushroom body. Here, excitatory Kenyon cells (KCs) receive feedback inhibition from the anterior paired lateral (APL) neuron. When KCs are artificially overactivated for 24 h, both KCs and APL reduce their sensitivity to excitation (‘↓ Exc’,

THE EFFECT OF CAROVERINE AND ITS COMBINATION WITH AMINOOXYACETIC ACID ON SURVIVAL TIME OF MICE WITH EXPERIMENTAL TETANUS

open access: yesVeterinaria, 2013
Tetanus is a disease that occurs in humans and various animal species worldwide. Tetanus toxin, after binding itself to nerve structures in the spinal cord, blocking the release of inhibitory transmitors which results in predominance of excitatory ...

Factors Affecting Immune Reconstitution Post‐Allogeneic HSCT in Children: The Case for an Individualized Approach to Vaccination

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Haematology, Volume 116, Issue 4, Page 336-349, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is increasingly used to treat malignant and non‐malignant diseases. Following allogeneic HSCT, patients are particularly vulnerable to vaccine‐preventable diseases (VPD) because conditioning depletes immune cells, including memory cells.

More than a Toxin: Protein Inventory of Clostridium tetani Toxoid Vaccines

open access: yesProteomes, 2019
Clostridium tetani is the etiological agent of tetanus, a life-threatening bacterial infection. The most efficient protection strategy against tetanus is a vaccination with the C.

Structural basis of tetanus toxin neutralization by native human monoclonal antibodies

open access: yesCell Reports, 2021
Summary: Four potent native human monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) targeting distinct epitopes on tetanus toxin (TeNT) are isolated with neutralization potency ranging from approximately 17 mg to 6 mg each that are equivalent to 250 IU of human anti-TeNT ...

Over‐Expression of a Phycocyanin‐Interferon Fusion and Differential Cleaving Efficiency in Cyanobacteria (Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803)

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, Volume 123, Issue 3, Page 752-762, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Recombinant protein expression in heterologous biological systems is an expanding field in synthetic biology. Photosynthetic organisms have the potential to provide an efficient low‐cost platform for recombinant protein production because they require minimal growth nutrients and are less susceptible to zoonotic and other contaminants ...

Engineered Probiotics: The Next‐Generation Therapeutics to Combat Antibiotic‐Resistant Bacterial Infections

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 2, March 2026.
Engineered probiotics secretes fusion proteins which potentially neutralized the toxins secreted by other microbial communities. ABSTRACT On a global scale, the escalating burden of infectious diseases, predominantly attributed to bacterial pathogens, especially drug‐resistant strains, has progressed into a critical concern for clinical management and ...

Bacterial Toxins, Current Perspectives

open access: yesToxins, 2020
Toxins are the major pathogenicity factors produced by numerous bacteria involved in severe diseases in humans and animals. Certain pathogenic bacteria synthesize only one toxin which is responsible for all the symptoms and outcome of the disease.
