Triple Cytokine FluoroSpot Analysis of Human Antigen-Specific IFN-γ, IL-17A and IL-22 Responses

open access: yesCells, 2014
The involvement of T-helper (Th)1, Th17 and Th22 cell subsets, in immunity, as well as in pathological inflammatory reactions, makes it important to determine their relative proportion. A triple FluoroSpot detecting the hallmark cytokines of Th1 (IFN-γ),

Th17 but not Th22 cells display pathological behaviour in arthritis [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of the Rheumatic Diseases, 2012
Background Th17 cells (IL-17+IL-22+) are critically involved in the induction and progression of arthritis. Recently, Th22 cells were discovered, which were characterised by IL-22 expression in the absence of IL-17. However, it remains unclear whether IL-22 and Th22 cells, directly contribute to synovial inflammation.

Reduced Th22 cell proportion and prevention of atopic dermatitis in infants following maternal probiotic supplementation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background In the randomized, controlled study Probiotics in the Prevention of Allergy among Children in Trondheim (ProPACT), maternal probiotic supplementation reduced the incidence of atopic dermatitis (AD) in the offspring.

Schistosoma mansoni Infection in Ugandan Men Is Associated with Increased Abundance and Function of HIV Target Cells in Blood, but Not the Foreskin: A Cross-sectional Study. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, 2015
BACKGROUND:Schistosoma mansoni infection has been associated with an increased HIV prevalence in humans and SHIV incidence in primate models. We hypothesized that immune activation from this gastrointestinal mucosa infection would increase highly HIV ...

Vitamin D Inhibits IL-22 Production Through a Repressive Vitamin D Response Element in the il22 Promoter

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
Th22 cells constitute a recently described CD4+ T cell subset defined by its production of interleukin (IL)-22. The action of IL-22 is mainly restricted to epithelial cells. IL-22 enhances keratinocyte proliferation but inhibits their differentiation and

Th22 cells increase in poor prognosis multiple myeloma and promote tumor cell growth and survival

open access: yes, 2015
There is increased production of plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) in the bone marrow (BM) of multiple myeloma (MM) patients and these favor Th22 cell differentiation.

The heterogeneous human memory CCR6+ T helper-17 populations differ in T-bet and cytokine expression but all activate synovial fibroblasts in an IFNγ-independent manner

open access: yesArthritis Research & Therapy, 2021
Background Chronic synovial inflammation is an important hallmark of inflammatory arthritis, but the cells and mechanisms involved are incompletely understood.

Autosomal Dominant Hyper‐IgE Syndrome Patients Retain IL10‐Producing preTh17‐Cells That Are Activated by Opportunistic Pathogens and Support IgE Production

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
IL‐10 producing CCR6+Th‐cells are central memory T‐cells that express ROR‐γt and differentiate to Th17‐cells via an autocrine loop of STAT3‐activating cytokines (preTh17). STAT3‐deficient AD‐HIES patients lack Th17‐ and Tfh17‐cells but retain preTh17‐ and Th1/17‐cells.

Serum‐Proteomic Profiling Reveals Distinct Atopic Dermatitis Severity‐Linked Signatures

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
This study aimed to identify a set of serum biomarkers that robustly distinguish prespecified severe from mild atopic dermatitis groups. Serum proteomic profiling distinguishes severe from mild atopic dermatitis, revealing an epithelial enriched severity footprint linked to LDH‐associated tissue injury and Th2/Th22 inflammation.

Loss of Th17, Th22, and Th17/Th22 cell function correlates with colorectal immune activation, soluble markers of inflammation, and levels of CD4+ T-cells.

open access: yes, 2016
Correlations between Th17, Th22, and Th17/Th22 cell function and plasma viral loads (copies viral RNA per mL of plasma) (A,B), absolute number of CD4+ T-cells (C), levels of activated colorectal (HLA-DR+CD38+) CD4+ T-cells (D,E), the level of ...
