This patient was admitted to the hospital 43 h after birth with convulsions and hypoglycemia, presenting as recurrent refractory hypoglycemia that was difficult to control with conventional medication. Whole exome sequencing detected the GLUD1 (NM_005271.3:c.1495G>T, p.Gly499Cys) variant, which was a de novo variant in the patient and was not detected ...

Thiazide Diuretics in Hypertension
Thiazide diuretics have antihypertensive efficacy equivalent to that of the other major classes of antihypertensive drug, and are at least as well tolerated as judged by discontinuation rates and measures of quality of life. They are effective when given once daily, require no dose titration, have few contraindications, and have additive effects when ...

In two independent cohorts of 17 826 hospitalized heart failure patients (MIMIC‐IV and a Chinese database), a higher Diuretic Intensity Score was associated with lower 28‐ and 90‐day all‐cause mortality. These findings are hypothesis‐generating and warrant validation in prospective randomized trials.

EFFECT OF THIAZIDES ON METACORTICOID HYPERTENSION AND ON THYROID ACTIVITY OF RATS
Chronic oral administration of either chlorothiazide (3.8 g/kg food) or hydrochlorothiazide (0.6 g/kg food) provides significant protection against metacorticoid hypertension induced by desoxycorticosterone trimethylacetate (post-DTMA hypertension) in ...

In 21,459 acute ischemic stroke patients, Mendelian randomization found no shared genetic causal link between serum uric acid and epilepsy. Elevated admission uric acid was a robust risk marker for post‐stroke epilepsy in women but not men, with the apparent male protective association sensitive to stratification method.
