Multifunctional adhesive polymers: Preactivated thiolated chitosan-EDTA conjugates
European Journal of Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics, 2017The aim of this study was to synthesis preactivated thiolated chitosan-EDTA (Ch-EDTA-cys-2MNA) conjugates exhibiting in particular high mucoadhesive, cohesive and chelating properties.Thiol groups were coupled with chitosan by carbodiimide reaction and further preactivated by attachment with 2-mercaptonicotinic acid (2MNA) via disulfide bond formation.

pH-sensitive and mucoadhesive thiolated Eudragit-coated chitosan microspheres
International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2008The aim of this study was using Eudragit-cysteine conjugate to coat on chitosan microspheres (CMs) for developing an oral protein drug delivery system, having mucoadhesive and pH-sensitive property. Bovine serum albumin (BSA) as a protein model drug was loaded in thiolated Eudragit-coated CMs (TECMs) to study the release character of the delivery ...

Controlled Drug Delivery Systems Based on Thiolated Chitosan Microspheres
Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, 2005The aim of the present study was to verify the potential of chitosan-thio-butyl-amidine (TBA) microspheres as carrier systems for controlled drug delivery. In this study microspheres were prepared utilizing water in oil (w/o) emulsification solvent evaporation technique.

Viscoelastic Properties of a New in situ Gelling Thiolated Chitosan Conjugate
Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, 2005The aim of this study was the synthesis of a new thiolated chitosan conjugate and the evaluation of its viscoelastic properties in vitro. The modification of chitosan was achieved by covalent attachment of isopropyl-S-acetylthioacetimidate to chitosan.

Carbohydrate Polymers, 2018
Corneal haze, commonly caused by deep physical and chemical injuries, can greatly impair vision. Growth factors facilitate fibroblast proliferation and differentiation, which leads to haze intensity. In this study, the potential effect of chitosan (CS) and thiolated-chitosan (TCS) nanoparticles and solutions on inhibition of fibroblast proliferation ...
