Stroke Severity Affects Timing: Time From Stroke Code Activation to Initial Imaging is Longer in Patients With Milder Strokes. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Optimizing the time it takes to get a potential stroke patient to imaging is essential in a rapid stroke response. At our hospital, door-to-imaging time is comprised of 2 time periods: the time before a stroke is recognized, followed by the period after ...

Cardiovascular Morbidity in Patients Undergoing Successful Surgery for Primary Hyperparathyroidism

open access: yesClinical Endocrinology, Volume 103, Issue 5, Page 669-681, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Objective Although previous studies have shown reduced cardiovascular events following parathyroidectomy (PTX), it is unclear whether this extends to contemporary patients diagnosed and treated with milder disease than previously. The aim of this nation‐wide study was to determine the effect on cardiovascular events after PTX, and to ...

Association between sodium‐glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor use and clinical outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes after urinary tract infection

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 27, Issue 11, Page 6188-6199, November 2025.
Abstract Aims To evaluate whether initiating sodium‐glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) within 3 months after a urinary tract infection (UTI) is associated with improved long‐term outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), compared with dipeptidyl peptidase‐4 inhibitors (DPP‐4i).

Association of the ICH Score With Withdrawal of Life‐Sustaining Treatment Over a 10‐Year Period

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, Volume 12, Issue 10, Page 1992-2001, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Objective The intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) score was developed to enhance provider communication and facilitate early severity assessment. We examined the association of the ICH score with mortality and withdrawal of life‐sustaining treatment (WLST) in a large, multicenter stroke registry, and evaluated temporal trends in these associations.

Engineering Highly Cellularized Living Materials via Mechanical Agitation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 40, October 1, 2025.
A mechanical agitation strategy is developed to engineer highly cellularized living materials, achieving cell densities of up to 1 billion cells per milliliter. By precisely tuning properties such as stiffness and toughness in blood clots, the approach is validated in both in vitro and in vivo studies.

Ultrasound-Enhanced Thrombolysis

open access: yesJournal of Endovascular Therapy, 2007
Purpose: To report a single-center clinical experience with ultrasound-enhanced thrombolysis in the treatment of both arterial and venous thromboses. Methods: From January 2005 to June 2006, 33 patients (23 men; age range 39–90 years) with 36 occlusions were treated using ultrasound-enhanced thrombolytic therapy for acute and chronic arterial and ...
