Thromboxane Biosynthesis and its Inhibition in Man [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
The principal product of arachidonic acid in the platelet is thromboxane A2 This compound is the most potent endogenous platelet agonist and vasoconstrictor known in man.

Current status and future perspectives of platelet function-guided precision antiplatelet therapy for patients with cerebral infarction. [PDF]

open access: yesNeuroprotection
Antiplatelet agents target the cyclooxygenase‐1 (COX‐1)/thromboxane A2 (TXA2) and adenosine diphosphate (ADP)‐P2Y12 (cytochrome P450 2C19 [CYP2C19]‐metabolized) platelet activation pathways, resulting in either drug resistance or over‐inhibition. The individualized therapeutic window balances ischemic risk (triggered by high on‐treatment platelet ...

Contemporary management of pain in cirrhosis: Toward precision therapy for pain

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract Chronic pain is highly prevalent in patients with cirrhosis and is associated with poor health‐related quality of life and poor functional status. However, there is limited guidance on appropriate pain management in this population, and pharmacologic treatment can be harmful, leading to adverse outcomes, such as gastrointestinal bleeding ...

Essential lipid autacoids rewire mitochondrial energy efficiency in metabolic dysfunction‐associated fatty liver disease

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Increased liver content of DHA‐derived small lipid autacoids (i.e resolvin D1 and maresin 1) associates with enhanced mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation, fatty acid β‐oxidation and bioenergetic metabolic flux. These features provide hepatic protection from steatotic, pro‐inflammatory and fibrogenic insults.

Thromboxane and the thromboxane receptor in cardiovascular disease [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Lipidology, 2010
Thromboxane A(2) (TXA(2)), the primary product of COX-1-dependent metabolism of arachidonic acid, mediates its biological actions through the TXA(2) receptor, termed the TP. Irreversible inhibition of platelet COX-1-derived TXA(2) with low-dose aspirin affords protection against primary and secondary vascular thrombotic events, underscoring the central

Prostanoids and Resolution of Inflammation – Beyond the Lipid-Mediator Class Switch

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
Bioactive lipid mediators play a major role in regulating inflammatory processes. Herein, early pro-inflammatory phases are characterized and regulated by prostanoids and leukotrienes, whereas specialized pro-resolving mediators (SPM), including lipoxins,

Influence of dietary linoleic acid intake with different fat intakes on arachidonic acid concentrations in plasma and platelet lipids and eicosanoid biosynthesis in female volunteers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Background/Aim: N-6 fatty acids are considered to promote diseases prevalent in industrialized countries and characterized by an increased eicosanoid biosynthesis from arachidonic acid (AA).

Thromboxane Mobilizes Insect Blood Cells to Infection Foci

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
Innate immune responses are effective for insect survival to defend against entomopathogens including a fungal pathogen, Metarhizium rileyi, that infects a lepidopteran Spodoptera exigua.
